I think the bottom photo is like the one a few weeks ago that some folk (myself included!) thought was Gorgie Road, looking towards the Tynecastle Arms?

I think this is the photo you're on about. It was taken from the opposite direction from the one I posted, the boozer being on the corner of Thorntree Street.

I wonder how long that took?

I’m guessing 8 or 9 hours?

Been on that many times. Overnight from St. Andrews Square to Victoria Bus Station in London was 8 to 9 hours. The drivers used to swap without pulling over.

That sounds incredible about the drivers!  I’ve never heard of that before.

I was awake about 5 in the morning and watched the driver stand up to the side and the next guy sit down and continue driving.

I done the trip many times in the fifties, used to be about 12 hours with a couple of breaks for the driver. Made another trip in the late seventies from St James Square, a bit different as I think there was more freeway driving. Never seen two drivers on any of the trips.

FFs...Eric Browns..lost in my memory bank. Remember now seeing small local bands. Cadiz..Chaser and Phyne Thanx.

Some guy used to sit in the front table and  play air drums with the band. Rocking 80s.

Thanks for the reminder Lemon.

No.

This was across the road on the other side . Head back towards Haymarket, on the left before the supermarket.

I was thinking it was the back road into Blackford pond

It does look a bit like Midmar Drive. I think the photo's been posted before though, and I'm sure the house at the top of the hill is the one top right here on the corner of Kirk Brae/Kenilworth Drive.

No. The Clock was where the front of the Lidl car park now is.

I was at the freebie opening night of Bensons which would have been about 84/85 I think, used to work beside the lassie that managed it hence the invite for the freebie. Think her man owned a successful mobile disco place around Lothian Road.

It was next to the ABC i think, his disco place, not Bensons

I remember that as a record shop on the Morrison St side of the ABC.

Did they maybe do mobile discos? I've got a vague memory of seeing a van.
