That's St Margaret's church in the background. Used to be dragged to Sunday School each week. Part of it is knocked down and an old folk's home(?) built in its place.

I used to live in Buccleuch Place in the 60's and 70's never ever remotely floods in that period.

Did Tommy Farmer have his shop on the corner of Place and Buccleuch Street then.

Yes I think he started it in 1969.

I thought it may have been gone by then, I left in early"67 and it had been there for a while by then.

It wasn’t a flood (puddle) mate it was the top of the vehicle that was in the picture giving an optical illusion 👍🏻

I had wondered what happened to the former church at 17-21 Blackfriars Street as I moved out of Edinburgh 7 years ago.

I see it has been converted into flats.

Does anyone have pictures inside when Richard Demarco owned it.

The pulleys at the window for the washing, caused a few temper tantrumns when a seagull or a pigeon laid a large sample of its digested food on the wash. Not a time to ask the wifie if she has time to make you a cup of teas.

Another view of that building with the tower. The sign on the gate post says Grange (something) Hotel.  It's certainly not grange road.

Could it be the top of Braid Road , with the spire being that of Morningside parish church ?

Definitely this. 👍

The steeple was from a church on the corner of Sciennes Road, it burnt down in 1974 and was replaced by a block of flats.

What a beautiful building, need to try and have a visit one of these days (if one can?)

It’s been restored recently, I’ve not seen it since it’s finished but it is indeed a stunning building.
