It's off Easter Road, and/or down behind the Artisan.

If you link a place to the nearest pub Morgan will be sure to know exactly where it is.

  I latterly realised that when I I had to go through the same exercise of describing where it was for a second time.  Use pub!

Looks like Wauchope Terrace or another Niddrie Street

I thought it was Harewood with the old Craigmillar Hearts supporters club in the background

Yes I am sure you are correct I wondered at the time why there were no Niddrie Mains Terrace houses showing. Like you say that would be the bit of grass at the end of the Terrace where the Hearts club was.

That street was another place of my history. A woman came to the police box at 6.00am, said her daughter was having severe stomach cramps. We went to the house to check before calling the doctor and the girl was on her back. legs spread and the head of a baby starting to appear. I ran to the nurses house on Greendykes and they came and concluded the birth. My partner a father prepared a wee bed in a cabinet drawer for the new one. I left the house was stopped by Wullie the milkman who told me there was an awful smell of gas from a house across the road. Found the house broke open the door and found a woman dead in the gas oven, suicide over an affair that went wrong. In the space of just over an hour I handled a birth and a death. On the trip home in the bus six hours later got funny looks because as my wife told me when I got home my uniform still stunk of gas.

Kind of at the back of the Artisan battle cruiser.

Where abouts on Hutchinson Road was that? I can mind the Coop Trendsetter, where the short lived Asda was.

Been looking through the various old maps of Embra and the surrounding area on this site recently

https://maps.nls.uk/towns/#edinburgh-city

Some very interesting proposed builds which never happened, including this entire "New New Town" in what is now Easter Road.

It explains why Leopold Place and the top end of Leith Walk is so fancy.

It's amazing to see the evolution of the city in these maps.

it ran from the corner of Chesser Ave along Hutchison Rd

i think the first store was in the ground floor of the building but my memory may be playing tricks as that would be around 1970 and I was only 6
