well it’s not been wasted, it can be fixed in the summer..

hopefully no more concerts blocking maintenance..

Not convinced KA

Last game was may 4th, the first of the new season was 12th July, the concert wasn't  until August.

I'm struggling to believe this one.

The pitch getting discoloured because of the concert has been an open goal to some.

Once the ‘fault and the ‘culprit’ are identified what would you like to see happen to the both the ‘fault’ and the ‘culprit’ (beyond taking all reasonable steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again?).

If it was beyond the club's control, like disease then fine. If it has been from poor/incompetent maintenance, especially after training from the manufacture on the various monitoring systems, then maybe more severe action needed.

Budge says one thing at the AGM, groundkeeper says another on here (including blaming Levein for training on it which is plausible). So who are we meant to believe?

The first game was July 12th, the concert was 2nd August (with only half the pitch being covered for staging).

A small bit at the end of the quoted article.

On maintenance, Lumbard added: “The renovations take place in May to keep the playing surface in top shape.

“We just take the top layer off, you are only talking about six or seven millimetres, and then put it back. Job done.

“You treat the pitch exactly the same as you would with any other grass pitch.”

Last sentence, does that mean/imply every (top level) (pure) grass pitch is skimmed every close season as well?

It is NOT a process exclusive to hybrid pitches  .... or even football pitches. The same machinery and process is marketed to golf clubs and looks to me just like an approach to scarifying. If you want to buy one of the machines (and have a tractor to run it) there's one on eBay for £11k. All the heriot watt grass pitches could get done too!

Does the tractor come with it?

What would the more severe action options be? A warning? A sacking? Report to police if felt to be a criminal act of vandalism? What if someone simply made a mistake using new equipment/technology that was unfamiliar to them (not unthinkable surely?). Would you want to name and shame the employee?

As for an employee having a different view on an issue, cause and action compared to an executive level employee or even the official company PR is hardly ground breaking and takes place at almost every workplace across the country.

It's not perfect, but it's more than adaquate for a game of ****ing football.

I think folk on here want public exucutions for every mistake.

Hopefully we can win a few games and all this shite stops.

The stand, the pitch, the catering, blah ****ing blah.

That was exactly the line Ann Budge used when we spent £1m  😉

From my own point of view I'm just interested, i've been involved in (amateur) maintenance of cricket pitches, club football pitches and my own grass in the garden so have an interest in the way the pitch was installed, the idea of the hybrid fibres for encouraging root growth, problems of compaction, scarification and drainage are all things I've come across before. Just never had a problem growng the stuff!

And how rude are you?

In the absence of any adequate explanation from the Club that stands up to scrutiny, it is entirely plausible that the Club failed to properly maintain the pitch - you believe that not to be the case - you are entitled to your opinion just as I am entitled to mine.

Now if you are not prepared to debate this civilly then please cease from responding to me.

Oh you poor wee lamb. You're the one banging on about the lack of appropriate care and maintenance but providing zero evidence of this being the case. I have no idea if it's right or wrong but you continually avoid proving the accusation. It's also "entirely plausible" the pitch has been attacked by parasitic nematode worms (same type that did for Murrayfield). I don't think it has but it's possible I suppose. Of course I have zero evidence to back that up and neither do you regarding your claim. Perhaps you just enjoy having a go at the club.

No I don’t enjoy having a go at the Club I have supported for years. But I call it as I see it good and bad.

It is indeed just as plausible that the pitch has been attacked by a parasite and not lack of maintenance as you suggest -  my point is that there is speculation as the Club have given no adequate reason for the horrendous state of the pitch.

At the AGM they basically stated that they had no complaints from opposition teams (big surprise as they were winning the games!) and we would be over seeding the surface.

Some on here have suggested the reason is bad weather and lack of light but come on that really doesn’t stack up does it?

IMO there  is a lack of the transparency that Ann Budge promised which is a bit of a concern and not just a “moan” - examples of this was the over spend on the stand with “design changes” given as the reason when the real reason was a huge budget cock up by the QS.

She also told us she had to persuade Levein to take on the Head Coach job when at the last AGM she admitted that the reverse was true.

So there is little wonder that ‘conspiracy theories’ go around concerning the real reason for the terrible condition of the pitch.

Bottom line is simple here, we paid the best part of a million pounds for a pitch that is literally no better than one that we grew naturally and for free for over a century and it's in, no better a state!

That's just not true is it? We've regularly paid to have the pitch relaid in the past. The last time being just over a year before the hybrid pitch was laid at a cost of £120k.

This time we also got the whole thing replaced right down to the drainage and the undersoil heating.

Which is the point being made.

We well and truly sorted the problem, only to go and **** it up again.

What is the cause of this **** up, it's getting explained.

It's grass, it will grow again, let's hope it doesn't repeat. It's an embarrassing **** up.

We already know the name of the employee, and he's come on here to defend himself which is fair enough.

But either Budge or the groundkeeper is lying over the problem and what caused it. I'm not suggesting sacking the ground crew unless there is evidence of gross negligence (after being trained on specialised equipment and the high tech monitoring systems).

All I care about is the pitch being in good condition, and it looks like it is recovering gradually. So either lessons learned and this will be a thing of the past, or we'll see the same problem re-appear around November this year and more questions will be asked of the maintenance.

I think the state of the pitch after spunking £1m of everyones money is one of the more acceptable reasons to have a moan.

I'm no expert but the timing of this concert appears to have something to do with that. I think the criticism is mostly fair.

I really think that it's time to put this subject to bed now. Our resident Groundsman has indicated on this topic what the issue is. It is up to the individual to decide if they want to believe him or not. Mrs Budge has sat on the fence getting splinters and said virtually nothing apart from saying they had no complaints about how it was playing At the AGM . I think Lennon and Wright both had a pop about the state it was in. I am 100 percent confident that the maintenance work that should be done at the end of the season will not be jeopardised again. 10 degrees in Edinburgh today. Grass will grow in this temperature. Let it grow let it grow let it grow.

Maybe has a plan for us to play away from Tynecastle  for the November to March period so that the Christmas market can be relocated to the pitch once the current princes street gardens contract ends.

looks similar anyway.

Gerard and the Rangers hierarchy had a meeting after their match last night with the head grounds man to discuss the state of the pitch at Ibrox. Looks in pretty bad nick and the players complained about it.

Epidemic in some top flight pitches at the moment. Don't like saying it but the piggery looked in decent nick last night from the highlights on the BBC. I was told Ibroke is only part Hybrid with the rest  being natural surface. Not too sure what areas tho.
