How many times have Hearts finished above Hibs

They will beat us some of the time, we will beat them more often. Can one of the stattos out there confirm how many times we've finished above them in the league, and how many times they've finished above us?

With us being in the Premier league and them in the first division the past few seasons even recent overall finishing spots have heavily favoured Hearts.

But hold on, according to that wee melted jobby face Mcginn post match, you need to be 80 or 90 yrs old to have lived through a period of Hearts domination!

Form and class.  They're at an almost all time high at the moment.  Us having a great period of time wouldn't be happy with 4th.

Their squad will fall apart, Lennon will leave or implode, they'll go back to how they've always been.

Let's not forget that even those figures are askew as the season we both went down, we actually gained more points than them.  The couple of seasons before they went down, they were lucky to stay up too, only Griffiths really saving them.

This isn't sour grapes, it's the way it is.  We've ben shite against them for a few years now, but let's remember this is the first season they'll finish above us (on points gained for quite a number of years).  We'll be back.

Hurts just now, but we'll be back.  And we won't judge our success solely on the derby - it'll go back to being a nice wee footnote to our season.

Hibs often have 1-2 years where there better then on par, let them have their fun. Last time was probably Latapy era and before that probably the famous five!

This is exactly how I see it too. As soon as Rodgers goes and Celtic drop their drawers, Lennon will be away and Hibs will not see him for dust.

To be fair I think he'd jump ship at the first decent opportunity to manage elsewhere.

I was surprised how well they have done

Seemed to mostly do it in good runs eg late 1940s

The time before Latapy etc was when they had Steve Archibald on massive wages, dirty cheats ??

They will be happy with that though, half n half scarves and all that. Even more players on loan from their big cousins.

Even in 2013/14 we won more points them but due to 15 point handicap they finished above us.

Their overall record is abysmal and they’re clinging on to the seventies like a Bay City Rollers fan.

The simple fact of the matter is that Hearts are typically dominant in terms of league placement and head-to-head results against Hibs. Even though there will inevitably be cycles where they are slightly superior, they are generally reasonably brief and they are not overwhelmingly dominant, as we tend to be. Although the loss yesterday is hard to take it doesn't bother me too much. We are still getting our house in order in terms of finances and the long-term project of improving the stadium, bringing through young players etc. I'll suffer a few seasons of mid-table mediocrity as well as being on the receiving end of some poor derby results as long as it sets the club up well for the next few decades; this is the point where we will again take our rightful place as Edinburgh's dominant team. They can have their few years in the sun but it won't last.

Honestly, these stats are cringe when we are so, so far behind them. I take zero comfort from knowing that we have a great history in the fixture because we’ve only won once in 4 years. We’ve scored two goals at Easter road since Budge came in and won none. The only stat that matters right now is the one that reads hibs 2 hearts 0. Our great history means nothing if we continue along this path. 1 win in 11 against them. We are using these stats to deflect away from how soft we have become against them and we are missing the signs that we are building the exact mentality that hibs used to have. Team full of loan signings, season after season rebuilds, crowds failing, atmosphere dying, splits in the crowd and a fan base becoming disengaged with the club. This Hearts side has all the hall marks of Pat Fenlons Hibs and we don’t seem to be willing to accept what is staring us in the face. Should’ve been ten tho, am I right.

Don't forget to include 1999, 2016 and 2017.   Being a league above them counts.

Interestingly both times you mention when they came back up, they finished in a higher position - League still has a way to go not impossible to catch them but looking doubtful.

Natural order next year please - see a few occasions where we finished the whole decade above them (Which for any grunts looking in you never have) :D, not really surprising stats - interesting though.
