Never usually negative, but I think we will lose this by a couple of goals.

Defensively we've been sound but Tuesday night we were pretty crap at the back.

Hopefully just a blip, but if we ain't at it tomorrow we will get punished.

Ok Sammon example was poor however we did play better with Naismith up too when Laf was suspended. I do think Laf get an easy ride considering the wage/ performance ratio

How much is he paid?

The mind boggles.

We are most dangerous when Lafferty plays.

I can see a hearts comfortable 2-0 win. Motherwell are not that good

Lafferty is a dangerous threat and knows where the goals are.

Smith in for Mitchel. Souter for Hughes.

I’d say souttar Hughes and Berra in a 3 then 5 across the middle with 2 up top

smith in for Demi.

Thought we dominated Kilmarnock for spells.  Not so easy to do right now. Think we will be on it tomorrow

Yip. Go for it tomorrow.

Not convinced we will play 3 at back though. More likely on Friday.

No issue with a 3-5-2 formation but I don't think Smith at left wing back is the answer.

...then more thinking about it, we don't have anyone else who can play there. Moore or Milinkovic maybe?

___Souttar__Hughes__Berra

Randall__Adao__Cochrane__Milinkovic

___Cowie__Lafferty__Naismith

Amankwaa looked sharp on Tuesday night so expecting him to make an impact from the bench

Hasn't Irving filled in at left wing back for development before? Strength to combat cadden at least and left footed.

1-1

Lafferty (pen) with a couple of minutes left.

Loads of relief coupled with seethe on here.

Then a 2-0 coast to the semis with Naismith getting an early double in the replay leading to jammie wearers having a laugh at the seethers.

At no point had Sammon scored 15 tho, and our top goal scorer.

The comparison is honking.

Probably the same folk that screamed at Sammon all the time  that are calling for Lafferty to be dropped, tho. Absolute tubes.

Before Hearts, when has Lafferty scored 15 in a season?

Heart says 1-0 to us. Head says 1-1 and then we win the replay convincingly.

I would put Naismith up top as he is a better player and we played better that way. I'm sure Naismith would have as many goals as Laff. I think Naismith would miss less sitters and brings more to the team up top rather than playing deeper.

:cornette: sober up man. Drop our top goal scorer ? :sweeet:thank god your no manager

Seems to have setled Doug. Don’t think we will have major snowfalls so only problem could be police advice re conditions around the ground. I assume Motherwell have been on the case with that so I think we are

At the start of the week I was up for a drive to the park and ride at the airport, picking up a few friends, drive to Motherwell, return to the airport after the game and then to Dunkeld. But th weather put paid to that (we would have had to get tickets whe the weather was at its worst, and I couldn’t have gone to a rescheduled game) . I’m waiting for a heart op so not too clever to drive for about 4 hours in these conditions.

in any case my wife has been stranded up here but is getting a train back down to London this evening, so all a bit complicated.

it will be the pub in Dunkeld for me

Good luck with all that Scott.  Sounds a lot like us.  Everything goes smoothly for a good while then everything becomes more complicated.

We're going through a few challenges at present, all of which will be aided immensely by Hearts giving Motherwell a sound thrashing.

A bit worried about the suspension tightrope but it is what it is. We'll just have to prepare for our semi without Adao, who'll be booked for looking the wrong way at McHugh from about 20 yards away.

Berra and Souttar are well capable of getting through this without yellows, but I'm sure they'll take one if need be.

Lafferty? Well, depends if his nut is screwed on the right way.

I reckon we can take this, 1-0.

Deans Jambo

Levein record at Fir Park when last in charge (2000-2004), 7 games.

4 defeats (inc 6-1)
2 draws
1 win.

To put a more positive spin, we've won the last 2 out of 3 at Fir Park.

I'd not be to disappointed with a draw.

Would settle for a draw right now Geoff. Get them back to Tynie. Hopefully win it at the first time of asking though, right in their faces from the start.  C'mon the Hearts!!

You would drop our main, often only, goal threat?!?!?!

I would prefer Naismith up top with Lafferty making runs off him, Naismith can take it in and hold it up better, Lafferty is better running at defences and into space than with his back to goal and for a big guy is not great in the air. Cl though may want to use Naismith as the deeper of the two with his experience helping the midfield at times. Either way both must play. We must carry a threat and also would like Milinkovic included especially if Naismith is used deeper. I hope Mitchell makes it but being a young Man.U kid on loan he will not be risked if not 100% in what will be a tough game. We cannot carry anybody in what will be a scrap and the big away support can really help us progress.

Mitchell will be a big loss if he doesn't make it. Smith will do a job at left back but will offer little going forward. That said, it could allow either Milinkovic or Amankwaa to start with Smith more of a defensive fullback but with an option ahead of him

Certainly don't see a back 3 with no Mitchell

Right now I'm more anxious about getting parked.  If the roads in Motherwell are like Livi, a lot of roadside parking won't be available.

Predicting a win for us and for me to miss the first goal due to the above.
