I don't get the obsession with bringing Sow back. Yes he had a decent spell with us and made us some very nice coin however since he's left he has done square root of **** all and our team is set up completely differently from then so there's absolutely no guarantee he'd hit the same form again.

Captained rangers against Aberdeen and was outstanding made 16 appearances this season for them and has certainly been effective is a vast majority of those games. When I said Jason holt ‘type’ player what I meant was an attacking midfielder with a good range of passing and drive maybe not Holt himself. I feel we lack that in the midfield at the moment and on Holt himself in my opinion he is definitely better than Callachan, Buaben, Martin, and Even cowie. If we did have Jason Holt he would certainly be a different option.

Holt better than Cowie ?

I'll have a pint of whatever you are on !

Here's what the squad looks like in the event that Isma and Stockton follow Walker, Nowak and Grzelak (and Smith-Brown?) out the door:

Goalkeepers

McLaughlin

Hamilton

Noring

Centre backs

Berra

Souttar

Hughes

Baur

(Smith and Buaben can cover here)

Right backs

Randall

Smith

Brandon

Left backs

Mitchell

(Brandon and Smith can cover here)

Centre mids

Djoum

Cochrane

Cowie

Callachan

Buaben

Martin

Supporting attackers (wingers, attacking mids, supporting strikers)

Milinkovic

Amankwaa

Naismith

Moore

McDonald

Henderson

Zanatta

Morrison

Irving

Keena

Centre forwards

Lafferty

(Naismith and Keena can cover here, Currie is injured till summer)

Another out and out striker is very much needed first and foremost, beyond that I actually think centre back is a more pressing issue than centre midfield, If I was to put together two XIs from what we have I'd probably go with:

_______________McLaughlin

___Randall__Souttar__Berra__Mitchell

Amankwaa__Djoum__Cochrane__Milinkovic

__________Naismith__Lafferty

supporting XI:

____________Hamilton

Smith__Hughes__Buaben__Brandon

_____Callachan__Cowie

McDonald__Zanatta__Moore

_____________Keena

Obviously our first XI will never be completely unavailable at once but I still think it's important for a team challenging at the top end of the table to be able to win games when three or four first picks are out and beyond the glaringly obvious deficiencies upfront I think the centre back position is the greatest risk especially considering the fact that Hughes has questionable fitness

Why on earth would that be in the Yorkshire Post?

Mind you. The YP chief football reporter Phil Hay is a good jambo.

I'm trying to play that story down, did you need to bring it up again

Mind you Leeds reacted in the way that made me think they had done the due diligence. Understand the logic behind the design, just the design was honking.

I’m not doubting he’s a good player wouldn’t say he has much abilty mind. But I’d say as a professional footballer the vast majority anyway should Surely have fitness, attitude, & teamwork.. that’s what makes them “professional” for me pace, drive, range of passing, vision, abilty, and consistency are what define midfield players which I would say holt has over cowie and that was the original argument.

You do realise Don Cowie, hasn’t provided not 1 assist in the SPL this season.

Sure he has 2 and milinkovic has 3. Cowie also had our highest last season with 8.

Had 0 this season. I do think Cowie is effective but maybe from the bench or in rougher games against Hamilton, Partick, Ross county Ect.. would prefer to see a more attacking threat from midfield.

Leadership, professionalism, encouragement, work rate....... Does Cochrane's running for him to allow him space to dictate play. Integral part of the team IMO

Nowak gone, Stockton gone, Isma deal imminent. Levein will have someone lined up undoubtedly as I don't think he'd have signed Amankwaa without those funds being available already (in case one of the players moving on fell through) and that's now freed up more wages

So apart from professionalism, attitude, desire, leadership, work rate, encouragement, setting up Harry's goal against Celtic and helping score the winner in the cup derby, what has Don Cowie ever done for us, eh?

Surprised at Keena. I thought he’d have stayed to put pressure on the first team strikers, especially with Stockton gone and Isma likely to follow.

I’m sure CL will have a replacement or Two lined up though.

I know what you mean though. Unfortunately you are probably correct. It is a case of what could have been, had it not been for his injuries.
