Literally just saw that when was googling his Bayern goal....was the 86-87 season.

One of Sandy Jardine's very few mistakes

We pummeled them first half as well

Didn't realise it was online, or even that the game was televised. I was at the game, one of these goals that sticks in your mind

(maybe even a candidate for the 'clapping an opposition goal' thread)

Was there , working in Dundee, living in Newport, with Dundee mates. Passed the ‘didnt clap’ test but only because I was so peed off

Same season, but Robbo's return was announced the night we beat Velez Mostar (I think) in November 88. The Bayern game was the end of February 89

The night we beat Mostar I was underground in a mine drivage at Monktonhall kept calling the surface for updates ,most of the tunneling team team were Jambos.Memories eh

He's been on before, I think he's good.

The 3-1 game at Tannadice - just checked, it was a Saturday game (which was my recollection)

I remember that day. We were 1 up and lost 3-1. It was a helluva strike to be fair

What's your view of today's signing?  That's the real topic.

Outstanding piece of business. Hopefully he is fit and good to go for Sunday

You can't have enough good players.

Are you guys paying £10k a week for him?

Probably not — basically that’s what Norwich we’re demanding from his wages. Naismith may have settled for less ( ie we pay some of the £10k he deducts the rest from the Norwich paycheck)

Thought he came over quite well. I heard he was selling cars now as someone stated somewhere above. Remember when he was selling football kits at the Glasgow Forge.....

I liked him for us. Once Robbo came back up the road it was curtains though. He had a good career and went know to win Scottish Cup with Motherwell I think

I understood his wages were reduced to 30k on relegation and Norwich were looking for a quarter of that which would be 7.5 a week

You still need to have that little bit of negativity to fall back on.

He says he is fit and I'm sure he will be raring to go if selected.

I notice you are keener to talk about all our yesterdays than the signing which is the subject of the topic.

It is reckoned on another site that we're paying £7.5k per week.  That should be covered if we even got 50% up front from the sale of young Leonard.

Not really desperate to stick up for Spency Baby, but he has said it was outstanding. Don't push your luck Al :)

I'm not pushing my luck.  I think we should stick to the topic or it'll turn out the same as the last Naismith thread.

I certainly didn't contribute to that cluster**** on the Naismith original thread.

If you want to police these threads try and obtain the necessary status

I didn't say you did but,as that thread showed, it grows like a snowball rolling downhill when someone goes off at a tangent and I was keen for you to enjoy the day.

Aye, took one step up as well.  I think the fact he stood over the ball, rather than take a run up, might have fooled the Bayern goalie into thinking he was going to put a cross in, rather than have a shot.  It was some strike though!

It's amazing how time affects the memory and people forget that it wasn't a free-kick that he scored.

An excellent assist from Tosh Mckinlay.
