Mulraney wouldnt be the most exciting signing but we need to remember he is only 21 and can only get better

I was just going to post something similar.

He would cost peanuts and apparently has a turn of pace so the risk wouldn't be too great and who knows....

Like you I would rather have less than more if its the right player

We can only afford what we can afford.  It's not a sin to be poor.

No, but it is to squander what you have when you are poor

As long as we don't give him a 3+ year deal.

Yes but that's a different argument.  I thought we were talking about offers to new players and not revisiting history.

Not really. All I want is vfm and not to be making signings last minute to fit a jersey. But I do accept this window may mean loan signings.

No announcement on the future of ASB as of yet, will he be staying or is he returning to City.

Surely he needs to go back and spend the next few months resolving his health issues. Its obv not a quick fix problem and we should be able to spend vital resources elsewhere as I presume we are pying part of his wages. There should be a provision to return an injured player to the parent club when its curcumstances like this. I believe we and Man City split payment of his medica fees to go see a specialist. I may have misread/misheard that somewhere though

Thought it might be the kind of thing that would have came out sooner rather than later. It seems to be a week off for most, perhaps next week will be more newsworthy.

Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Hibs have all done something all the same.

26 days to go and patience required on my part!

I agree entirely.

He came to us to get game time and has hardly kicked a ball for us so there is really no point in keeping him now unless of course he is nearing full fitness.

Even if he is with such a long time out he would be a risk and we could use the money of someone else.

As i sakd before so much as we are screaming out for a LB we have a very solid defence so losing the wage of ASB and utilising it elsewhere and uskmg Brandon/Smith til summer is not the worst scenario. Creativity and a finisher is much higher priority in my humble opinionoaneeee!

You are absolutely right re vfm but you have to accept that when we are not awash with money we sometimes have to take risks.  CL will have seen him at close quarters while he was with us and if we decided to take him on it would be a low risk, in financial terms at least unless we dished out a 3 year contract.

We do seem to do a lot in the background that doesn’t get out the club so fingers crossed. Worst case if Laff appeal is successful and Walkers away then we can have balance in the team for the cup tie but Im not sure any of us would accept that position esp given the words coming out of Tynie since Cathro left.

I suppose the cup game complicates thinking. 2 years ago we shoved Dauda into the derby. Not sure a new signing would have an immediate impact.

I would rather we wait until summer and back the kids than gamble

If the cup game wasnt the Huddsys then I think we’d all be viewing things differently.

I would hope we don’t pick up any Dauda’s etc but there is definately extra pressure for the powerd that be on the next 21days or so from at least part of the support.

I'm sure I read a CL quote yesterday saying we were still interested but there was a lot of negotiation re our part of the loan wage.

Only 16 games to go until a game that should we lose would end our season. We need a couple of players in within the next week. If nothing happens then I would rather not sign anyone until the summer ( unless extending certain players contracts).

16 days to Hibs and 16 league games to go, nice symmetry.

Moving Walker on today suggests it will lead to something else.

Would it? We're doing well in the league. Don't give them the satisfaction of saying stuff like that in my opinion

Don’t really care too much about what Hibbies looking in on a Hearts forum think. The Hibs game is massive and would all but end our season should we not win. There is a positive vibe about our club at the moment and hopefully that will continue, but you only need to look at results in the cup in the last few seasons to see that things can turn very quickly. That’s the reason I thought the club would push the boat out a bit regarding this transfer window ( a couple of quality signings or loans). Fingers crossed their is still time and Lafferty wins his appeal.

Live in Inverness and go down to watch them occasionally with my mate who has a couple ST's. From what I've seen he is very quick and likes to take players on, hit the byline and put it in the box, had his best game I've seen against Falkirk mind you...

Byrne we ended our interest I think, that could be financial and down to wages or we had a rethink and don’t want him. McGinn as well was always more likely to go back to his former club.

So realistically the only signing we have missed out on is the Swedish Syrian to a league with much greater wages on offer.

Nothing to get too concerned about IMO.

Dundee United just brought in a new LB on loan from Watford. Any chance we could be in to sign Jamie Robson?

He is out of contract at the end of the season but has had interest from a few clubs down south.

Kenny McLean is to leave Aberdeen, wonder if Craig fancies a dash for him.Might not be too pricey and a very decent midfielder Dons may let him go this window to us around 150 ish thou hopefully.

Would be decent !

It appears he's under contract until July at Wigan but his goals per game tally seems to have dropped a bit since his first season there.

Bit of a long shot - but with the Northern Ireland connections, and the Wigan factor in the mix there may be a wee bit in it !

Liverpool FC - Ryan Kent -21year old winger has potentially become available.  Only had 45 minutes this season at FC Freiburg so talk of him cancelling the loan contract.  Klopp considering him for a LFC first team runout or sending back out on loan.

Seen him playing a few times and the potential this lad has is frightening, he would absolutely tear this league up! I think Klopp will be looking to move him on to somewhere better than our league though to be honest.

Could say the same for Patrick Roberts. Man City are happy for him to play against inferior teams week in, week out.

True, however he's also getting a lot of European experience at Celtic that Kent wouldn't get at Hearts, it could be the tipping factor.

I don't think we will be picking up halfers on any medical fees on a player that has been loaned to us, because he has hardly kicked a ball, which is a pity as he looked good in the limited time he played.

English championship players will be cash.

Mcginn, you can't help but think his 3.5 year deal at 30 was the clincher.

January isn't great, but 3 players of quality may be within reach.

Would be if we have replacements lined up ? with the Lafferty situation would be a disaster if we let both go and couldn’t get someone in before the Hibs game.

Sure I read an update somewhere saying ourselves and Man City were sending him to a specialist. Implying it was a joint thing. Sure someone on here can confirm either way.
