Elon Musk just announced Tesla won’t accept Bitcoin due to the fossil fuel demands to mine it. Be interesting to see if that impacts on the price.

75% of Mined BTC is produced using renewable Energy.

It's certainly not a get rich quick scheme anymore. At $50 per coin it would take massive movement for you to even double your money.

Fiat currency is bad for the environment as well

Depends what coins you're holding.

This is the 3rd 'big' dip this year and the market has risen more after each one.

Once the meme coins are cleaned out the stability will return and as for Elon Musk what's the environmental impact of tesla battery production and firing single use rockets up into space every 5 minutes?

Fantastic opportunity to make some money. I was going to leave my BTC in NiceHash to build up for another week but with ETH going way down its a good time to convert that BTC to ETH.

He is having a pissing contest with Bitcoin investors. He is pretty pro-crypto overall.

He's trying to distract from the fact Tesla made more money from holding Bitcoin on its balance sheet in 6 months than it did making cars in 10 years.

Oh and the arse is out his share price.

He's also got regulatory issues inbound in China.

He should probably STFU and concentrate on the day job.

New exchange like pancakeswap and uniswap just launched called steakbank.

Google steakbank finance

Uses binance smart chain. Can purchase bnb and connect a metamask wallet or a smart chain wallet.

It will list on Binance exchange withing the coming days.

Read the white paper and as always don't invest what you cannot afford.

P.S don't hold your crypto on any exchange always transfer it to a wallet.

The SCC in America are asking questions about binance. Sniffing about it because its making a fortune on fees.

So full disclosure I am a shareholder in Celsius Network through Bnk to the future if any of you are aware of that?

But anyway Celsius was founded by Alex Mashinsky and are a lending platform where you can earn interest on your crypto. It’s similar to BlockFi but I originally went with Celsius because they offered interest in more of the coins I owned.

Anyway, since the start of 2020 I have made mid four figures just in interest from them and have withdrew a few times and it’s always straight forward.

Some great times for mining. People buying in at low prices and people panic selling = lots of transaction traffic = high gas fees = £££ for miners.

Crypto market beginning to recover 😊

Hmmm. No quite yet. Bitcoin been struggling to keep its head poked above $40k, ethers been having similar struggles between $2.5k and $2.8k and doggy gets a nosebleed at 40 cents. They'll all likely dip again through the night and then repeat the same struggle tomorrow.

I’ve been very cynical about crypto. It goes against pretty much everything thing I view as important from a investment perspective.

It has no intrinsic value, the value is, in someways, extrinsic. That said that’s the attraction of it, it’s volatility. It attract a certain ‘type’, there is always money to be made from stupid and greedy people. I

I put a few quid into over the last couple of years and, done all right out of it. However, for your average person it really is a lottery.

I would never put anything substantial in either. The price flies up and down so unpredictably e.g. the wee bit of Litecoin I bought about 5 years ago. Gained about 15% in the first week then lost 75% rapidly. Gradually over a few years it crawled back to it's original value, then flew up to a high of +40% last week. I was thinking of selling it but decided I wasn't needing the money anyway so I might as well just leave it there. It promptly plummeted back down 50% practically overnight.

Anything that can gain or lose 20% of it's value based on whatever Elon Musk has tweeted that day is not a sound investment. Anyone putting money in that they can't afford to lose it is not making wise life choices.

It's been predicted that btc will drop to low $20,000 after this Friday when some huge call options are up.

Then its said within the next year it will top $80,000.

Who knows if its true. If it is then next week might be a good time to purchase bitcoin and enjoy the ride

Sounds exciting!  As has been stated elsewhere, buying and selling cryptocurrencies is not investing, it's speculating.  The best advice I can give is to speculate only with money that you can afford to lose.

What is your thoughts on some of the new crypto currencies? I have a few quid spare and was looking to make a long term dabble.

There's very little chance of choosing a good one, it's a very crowded market place and many cryptos have fallen by the wayside in the last few years. I invested in a few, one particular startup a few years ago. It sounded amazing, the guys in charge were from reputable backgrounds and seemed to really know what they were talking about. Ended up clueless, ran the thing into the ground, it's worth nothing now.

You just never know what the combination of talent, luck, application and decision making will result in, but the odds are very much against any new crypto.

Wait until bitcoin dips below $25,000 and invest then.

Again don't put in what you can't afford to lose.

As for new coins and exchanges.. I would hold off until we find out what's happening with ripple and the Sec. If they win it then xrp will sky rocket.

Ethereum (could reach Bitcoin levels when it turns into Eth 2.0) and Cardano are my most hopefuls.

Shiba Inu to be the next Dogecoin.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it’s a difficult area to predict. While I don’t have money to burn I had a couple of thousand that I wouldn’t miss. I already had BTC, Ether and XRP so decided to up those, weighted to XRP. Let’s see how it goes 🤞

Doesn't stop the experts in this thread making some fairly precise predictions about price movements and dates of those movements. Be a lot of millionaires posting in here this time next year.

I see the cycle repeating.

Some big players have bought up a bunch of cheap bitcoin and are able to drive the market up by trading between themselves for increasing prices and letting snippets out to show how reliably predictable it is.

People get excited, and confident, and throw their money in until the magic price is reached, then they cash in by selling, making a fortune and crashing the market.

Could be wrong of course, but we'll see.

In fairness I did ask for opinions and some people seem to be switched on to the crypto world.

I’m far from an expert and I’m not looking to make millions. I’m just putting a few quid in that I that was sitting in the bank doing nothing and that I won’t miss if it goes Pete Tong. In the end I followed my own instincts so only myself to blame if it goes wrong 👍

If I was in your shoes I'd probably spread my money around 10 or so new ones if we're talking a couple of grand. The chances of lightning striking with a new coin are  pretty damn slim, we're STILL talking about bitcoin, but at least you get 10 shots at it this way. If you actually do hit a successful one, a couple of hundred quid would be a great start as successful ones grow massively.

But if I personally had that money and could afford to burn it, I'd be more interested in playing the volatility of the market in the short term, riding the waves for fun.

One thing I will say - make sure you have a clear way to quickly turn your crypto back into real money (fiat), I've had mates who'd made money on paper and never saw an actual penny.

The thing is though, it's not unpredictable, there'll be another bubble in another couple of years as big players inflate the prices and make loads, then whip the rug out all over again

Not knowing when the rug is going to be whipped out makes it unpredictable.

Behind a paywall, what would that mean for those of us using Binance?

I am really not sure tbh. Quite vague. The article states that Binance are not permitted to undertake any regulated activities in the UK. Although I thought currently that crypto is unregulated, so I’m very confused.

I assume Binance will have to issue some sort of statement to clarify what exactly is happening, and whether there is a deadline to transfer funds.
