gowestjambo
Lets face it, we were crying out for half decent players as soon as the transfer window opened, and what have we seen? NOTHING!!! Ideally we need 8 new players and a manager, anyone out there remotely think we will sign anybody? (I don't!)

Horse
No point doing what we done 2 years ago in January - buy a whole team and then find out, apart from Bruno, that they are all pesh poor. Maybe a wee bit hard on the Bullett as he looked ok to me when he got a chance. As it looks like we will not get relegated, more down to Gretna having too much ground to make up, rather than us deserving to stay up, I would rather we got a manager in and then give him the rest of the season to decide who he wants to keep and for him to look at the reserves. Mind you after one game he will probably wish to chuck the whole lot of them. At last it would be a starting point and then in the summer he can bring in his own players. No point signing sh ite now just for the sake of signing players. Still can't see Vlad giving us a manager but all we can do is wait and see. Only a Game
He will be asked !!!! FFS, its two phone calls, one to Kilmarnock to ask permission, one to JJ to ask if he wants it. That doesnt take 3 weeks (unless your with T-mobile). It wont be JJ or he would have been here. If it is JJ you have to seriously ask why it wasnt done 3 weeks ago when we were still in the cup and had time for an incoming manager to assess the squad before buying and shipping out. We have 8 days to get a manager in AND give him the chance to bring some players in. I'd be very surprised now if we got someone before the end of the season . Can you show me were he said within 4weeks? I think the assumption was that by announcing it at beginning of the month he'd have a new manager in place well in advance of the close of the January transfer window. In the event? Nothing, nada, niet!!! Unless...going by Vlad's usual tactics he anounces a new guy on Friday night/Saturday morning, just in time for the Dons game...But even if he does he'll have no chance to brijng in new players befoe Jan 31... rudi
We have seen this all before, christ two seasons ago when we were trying to qualify for the CL we as supporters were asking for him to get us a decent central mid-fielder because all we really had was Hartley and Jules. Did we sign said mid-fielder that could have helped us into CL and earn millions, did we feck.

Seriously? With around 3-4% of all such managers being unemployed at any one time and half of them unaffordable and half of them not interested in coming to Scotland and the poor name Hearts currently in management circles and the imperitaive of not rushing into a mistake - I would say about 3 months. As i said before recriutment in any specialist commercial market is difficult even at the best of times. It has taken me just over 3 months to recruit 2 new sales people for my own company and its nothing like as big as HMFC, or as imperitive to get it right first time. People expecting this in days is in my experience, albeit in a different commercial market do not understand the likely problems and timelines involved - You can be lucky and get a good candidate within a week or 2, but statistically unlikely IMO. Does that answer the question you asked me?

Does that answer the question you asked me? 1. Recruiters of football managers have two advantages over you. Their CV and their abilities are both very public knowledge. You know what you are getting before you even call them. 2. Football managers have agents. Some of whom, probably lots of whom, contacted Hearts about "their man" as soon as it was known the job was available. 3. Charlie Mann specifically told us the last time we were apparently looking for a manager that he had over 40 high quality applications for the job. Did we keep any of those applications on file like a proper company would have ? 4. We needed one urgently, before we were knocked out the cup and before the transfer window closed or the rest of this season was going to be a write off and possibly much much worse than a write off. Fourcandles
1. Not true, I have detailed files on every sales person in my Industry in the UK. 2.Secondly agents touting guys you don't want is no use whatsoever. 3. A lot of the problem is who is available at the time, and do you want to compromise on someone not ideal but happens to be available in your required window. I would imagine Vlad would not wish to compromise if in doubt and prefer to wait - don't know this just my gut feeling that he feels better to get pelters for waiting till 'Mr Right' is available than make another mistake. Only a Game
1. Not true, I have detailed files on every sales person in my Industry in the UK. And it still took you 3 months to recruit them ? (By the way I think youll find its illegal to keep files like that without their knowledge, consent and full access whenever they want to see them) 2.Secondly agents touting guys you don't want is no use whatsoever. True, but they certainly havent had to go through a whole recruitment process from scratch. FFS you sit and talk about who you might want for a couple of hours then you spend a day or so seeing who is available from whoc you want, then you approach their club or approach them if they havent got one. Its not rocket science. 3. A lot of the problem is who is available at the time, and do you want to compromise on someone not ideal but happens to be available in your required window. If the truth be told, Vladimir Romanov is not an expert in the field of football management and should be taking a back seat to those who are. Tell them what the salary is and the job description if you want but FFS let them get on with it and TRUST them. I dont know about you but I would be horrified if my boss in France had any input into who I recruit for the company. He wouldnt have a clue who, where or what to look for, and he would probably be man enough to admit that. . Sorry about that feckin awful colour

I just don't think this will happen in 28 days, giving it to someone else to do as you sugest does not increase the small potential number of candidates and the the fact that most of them would not come anyway - IMO it will take a while and VR will determined (in his mind at least) NOT to get it wrong. All these and many other reasons suggest to me longer term hunt, hope i'm wrong but reallly dont think so.
Darth Sidious
I have had the hope that Hearts have been waiting for the Scotland job to be confirmed. Then they would appoint someone. Billy Davies maybe if he was not picked for Scotland and not Burley's replacement at Southampton, who seem to be looking at McGhee. When the delegation went to Vlad 2 weeks ago, was that not to discuss managerial candidates? Or was it just to look good in photos. 2 Weeks and no further forward seems strange for Campbell Ogilvie.
