A Russian-backed "propaganda" network has been broken up for spreading anti-Ukraine stories and paying unnamed European politicians, according to authorities in several countries.

Investigators claimed it used the popular Voice of Europe website as a vehicle to pay politicians.

The Czech Republic and Poland said the network aimed to influence European politics.

Voice of Europe did not respond to the BBC's request for comment.

Czech media, citing intelligence sources, reported that politicians from Germany, France, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Hungary were paid by Voice of Europe in order to influence upcoming elections for the European Parliament.

You mean "FT Russians", surely?  They're trying to buy influence everywhere.  If Tice can buy 30p Lee for £430,000, the Russians can probably buy MPs' support a bit cheaper. ;)

Major shortages of medicine now normal in the UK, another win for brexit , reports of some people having to search far and wide for a chemist that has the medicine they need .

Brexit has caused some suppliers to withdraw the UK from its supply chain due to costs .

Backwards Britian .

Brexit travel hope for UK students-as EU offers olive branch to Labour

  • Under-30s set to benefit from EU plan to relax visa rules which would allow them to live, work and study in European countries for up to four years
  • Austrian MEP Andreas Schieder tells i: 'We are in favour... The UK wanted a clean break but understood British students and universities are suffering'
  • UK approached member states to negotiate new reciprocal youth mobility scheme, documents show, after Brexit meant leaving Erasmus exchange deal
  • The offer is likely to be seen as a peace offering to a future Labour government, but party says it has no current plans to boost youth mobility

Poor journalism from the independent It's got feck all to do with Labour - they are just missing us 😁

Backwards and arseways, comrades.  Backwards and arseways.

A perfect example of the new thinking where a much worse, half arsed deal is a big win.

I'm quite sure the Eurpoeans are not 'missing us'

Britain approached the member states looking for an arrangement, but yeah, we're "missing you".

If you read the text extract that M105 posted, you'll see that the British government didn't ask for this for the benefit of British students.  It asked for the benefit of British universities.

You mean they couldn't give a shiny shite about the proles and are only really worried about maintaining the profit margins of their donors and sponsors?

Shocked.

It's OK the UK Gov have thrown the EU proposal out would  rather make agreements with individual countries - 15 so far inc Australia and NZ - better for UK tax payer

The UK will rejoin the European Union's flagship Horizon science programme after two years of absence post-Brexit, the government has confirmed.

Number 10 said the move would happen "through a bespoke new agreement with the EU".

A spokesperson added Prime Minister Rishi Sunak secured "improved financial terms of association that are right for the UK and protect the taxpayer".

Mr Sunak said: "We have worked with our EU partners to make sure that this is right deal for the UK, unlocking unparalleled research opportunities, and also the right deal for British taxpayers."

Scientists called the announcement "tremendous news".

Horizon is a collaboration involving Europe's leading research institutes and technology companies which sees EU member states contribute funds that are then allocated to individuals or organisations on merit.

Try telling that to Kelty kids or other Scottish forgotten about areas, as the Snp elite forget about the bread and butter.

The UK will rejoin the European Union's flagship Horizon science programme....

This is old news - it happened on January 1st, and the agreement was reached in September 2023.  There's an article below from the British Medical Journal explaining the actual details of the agreement with Brussels rather than the Conservative spin, and noting that the final agreement made only cosmetic changes compared with the EU's original offer.  The article also derides the spin about the UK's "bespoke" agreement.  The EU has "bespoke" agreements to participate in Horizon with almost every non-EU country in Europe, as well as the newest participant, South Korea.
