Yep as above. Rats fleeing the stinking sinking ship of fools.

Brexit minister Lord Frost walks out on Boris: Panic in No10 as PM's key ally quits, saying he's 'disillusioned' with the Government's Covid Plan B restrictions, vaccine passports, tax hikes and the cost of Net Zero green agenda.

Aye of course it's those things and not the absolute shitshow of Brexit so far with the real impact still to come when the unilaterally imposed grace period lapses in Jan.

But it's vaccine passports 😂

Lord Frost, knowing he's in charge of pursing the impossible, flounces off into the sunset.

:jjyay:

I bet the EU won't be happy at having all previous talks nullified and having to start all over again with whichever new arsehole takes the job.

Frost: "GIVE US WHAT WE WANT OR WE'LL INVOKE ARTICLE 16!!!"

EU: "haha aye right, try again"

Frost: "GIVE US WHAT WE WANT OR WE'LL INVOKE ARTICLE 16!!!"

EU: "No seriously, what are your actual proposals?"

Frost: "GIVE US WHAT WE WANT OR WE'LL INVOKE ARTICLE 16!!!"

EU: "Can we talk to an adult?"

Frost: "I QUIT"

Michael O’Leary doesn’t pull any punches about the incompetent Cabinet we have encumbered ourselves with. “If you were running a business, you wouldn’t hire Johnson, Michael Gove, or Priti Patel. They’re all idiots. The only thing they have in common is that they were all Johnson-supporting Brexiteers. Anybody with any ability is kind of frozen out of the cabinet.”

Worth a read.

Liz Truss gets the Brexit job, on top of her role as Foreign Sec.

So the person responsible for the UK side in negotiations with the EU on the Northern Ireland Protocol is...

...the Foreign Secretary.

Now this is an edge case and likely not a GDP shattering impact but the Brexit impact on DIY music artists and record labels is horrendous.

This is a potential workaround that is being considered by one record label:

"Is there a solution? "This sounds insane…" begins Judge. "But we've actually talked about only shipping to Europe once a month and then taking it in turns to drive across to France and then send everything from France. That's been a genuine conversation. It's ridiculous."

Yet another dividend from Global Britain.

An article like that makes me think maybe I'm wrong and the government aren't so bad if they're managing to get under the skin of a guy like Michael O'Leary.

I must admit I found O'Leary's comments annoying.  Same as when he quite rightly savaged the EU (and others) for the pointless "security" measures introduced at airports relating to liquids and clear plastic bags.

It's nearly worse when he says something I agree with, because he's such a completely dislikeable bollix.

Mind you.... :runaway:

This is the government's own impact assessment on Truss "amazing" Australia deal.

British farming, forestry and fishing will suffer a £94m hit from the free trade agreement, a Department for International Trade (DIT) document has revealed.

The government also expects a £225m hit to the semi-processed food sector, conceding that it was another area expected to “contract” as a result of increased competition.

:kirk: So that's a total loss of £319 million.

Was it Truss who was going on about cheese or something at the Tory conference, a few years back. I just remember some idiot going on about something . But it's the Tories so it could be any of them.

Sorry Aussie, I know you'd much rather kiss a few Tory arses.  No offence meant.  ::troll::

Forget the fish. Forget the trade deals. Forget freedom of movement.

The government, after careful consideration of all the problems Brexit presents, have agreed to bring back the pint bottle of Champagne.

Just rejoice.

The Tories. They've got your back Britain.

Not only does Jan 1st see the end of the Brexit transition period and tariffs between the UK and EU go up across the board, but the UK steel industry is being hit with a double whammy.

The USA and EU deal to end steel tariffs (imposed by Trump) comes into force on Jan 1st.

EU steel will be 25% cheaper to import to the USA than British steel will.

So exporting steel to the EU will incur tariffs and USA importers will get steel 25% cheaper from the EU than the UK, making them far less likely to buy British at all.

Don't forget the paperwork required to make customs declarations which could be done retrospectively but not from tomorrow. They must be presented at point of entry of goods by the haulier/freight forwarder.

How long do we reckon it'll be before it's carnage at the ports?

I'm sure it will come in time given plenty on here seems to be experiencing it at times.

I've yet to find anything I can't get yet either but that was the case pre-Brexit so not really a benefit to be no worse off in terms of grocery shopping availability.
