Is there really a need for any other than Carling? Easily best on the market and at a reasonable price. Anything else is just pretentious if you ask me.

Tastes great from the tap, a couple of tins are perfect for a BBQ and is a staple for an away day trip!

A wee nip of Glens vodka on the side?

See I see you drinking great continental beers like a Brasserie de la Plaine or maybe looking outwith France at a Weihenstephaner. Of course you love good wine and consider a good Burgundy your right and are willing to pay that cost.  A crisp Chablis or maybe Picpoul de Pinet if it's fish on the menu.

And also you'll stop at the Spar to see if they've got any Skol.

Lovely stuff.  That was the white at my wedding last year.

Yet to try one that's been any less than excellent. It's a bit like Malbec in that you need to spend £8 a btl minimum but there's a guarantee there. Alsace wines I find similar consistency wise but more of an acquired taste.

First time I'd had that particular tyoe of wine.  Very nice it was too!

Went for a Rioja for the red, iirc.

Well, except the Skol

Rioja, my very favourite red.

Like a white Rioja too mind.

When in Italy at the weekends we usually like a wee Barolo.

Bought this wee Sub machine for draught beer in the house. Buying the Torps for it is a wee bit pricier than bottles...but the quality is worth it.

Fresh cold Birra Moretti in yer own gaff.

Got something similar, the Perfect Draft machine. Pours a lovely pint of a range of Northern European beers.

You can still get it in Asda - problem is that is now brewed by Tennent's in Glasgow.

I am in Wellington NZ this week for work and there are loads of tremedous beers here.  Quite surprised at the amount of really good craft beers on offer.

I keep looking out for our hibby hating wellingtonian....but no sightings yet.

Some folks still like them, each to their own, I suppose.

I'll buy and drink Moretti, Peroni, Mythos etc etc on occasion, indeed was mostly drinking Peroni, Mythos & Dos Equis whilst on my recent cruise, these were better than what else was on offer, such as Bud, Bud Light, Michelob, Michelob Ultra, Coors Light etc.

Overheard a group of 3 American gents singing the praises of how great Bud Light was , did think about educating them, but what was the point, as one of this group also got a Johnny Walker whisky with lots of ice and the glass filled up with coke.  :cornette_dog:      How to kill a drink.

It is nice, the ruby and the gold is good as well but the King is on a whole other level.

The Ruby being only 1.30 for a 500ml bottle is insane. It's just the best value for money on the market right now. Tremendous ale and much cheaper than most others.

Out of all the Wychwood beers I've had (29 now over the years) King Goblin was the best, by far.

And the worst, Pumpking, didn't like that at all.

I'm in total agreement. I do love Wychwood though. They usually get it right.

Also very partial to the Badger range.

And Robinsons range of Iron Maiden ales are actually very good. This is available in Home Bargains for £1 at the moment.

You can keep all your poncy beers, I'm very partial to Stewart Brewing's Edinburgh Gold and Radical Road.

As am I, especially Radical road, very nice indeed.

Have you tried Stewart's Zymic or Lost Cause or their Scotch Ale when they were available?  All excellent imo.

Not sure what you mean by poncy beers though.

Very enjoyable.

Wasn't overly struck by the Hallowed tbh.

Badger's not too bad these days, I particularly like their Daring Diver & First Call.

Tried their Fursty Ferret on draught in one of their pubs in West Sussex, thought it much better than the bottled version, mind that is often the case that the cask is much better than the bottled version.

I would never leave that pub. Fursty Ferret is my casual drink. Even my mum keeps 2 in the fridge for when I visit on Sundays.

Best Maiden beer was their red and the black porter. Aside from the original trooper which is very nice.

Trooper was fine, not tried the red & black porter, yet.

I've been trying quite a few of the beers from the 8 Sail Brewery from Lincolnshire over the last few months, all are bottle conditioned, one or two quite lively though.

Was really surprised by a Spanish beer I tried last week, it was this one.

image.png.d046d7bdbb84df42d81d37742ec41335.png

At last a decent Spanish beer, wonderfully hoppy, very very nice.

I've got a bottle of their Pale Ale as well.

Had this last week. Holy ****. It's like drinking a stout with a shot of whisky in it.

I'll keep an eye out for that.

I got the Basqueland Brewing Project beer from here https://www.beerwulf.com/en-gb/

I get quite a lot from them, prices are excellent and free postage from Amsterdam for orders over 12 bottles, I generally buy a 20 bottle case I've made up myself about once a month from them.

Glens is always a last resort if the JSA is running low.

Russian Standard is my tipple of choice when money is no object
