Long shot and appreciate it’s a lager rather than an Beer however does anyone (most likely who went to Estonia for the game v Infonett) remember the beer? Believe it was called Saku.

If anyone knows where to buy it that here that would be brilliant

I've not had a Saku lager, and have never seen it on sale.

I have had Viru lager and you'll have a better chance of getting that one as I have seen that in supermarkets on occasions.

Vocation make some fantastic beers, this one from tonight is a chocolate and morello cherry imperial stout 11%, like a Black Forest gateau, a wee bit sweet but still lovely

the other from last night is a chocolate coffee and hazelnut imperial stout 12.4% which I prefer, superb

No idea what’s happening with photos. Hobgoblin Ruby 5.2%

Review says

Expect a delicious full-bodied toffee flavour and a fruity finish of figs, raisins and dates. Hobgoblin

My palate must be goosed as I just didn’t get any of that. Pleasant enough beer but think I’ll stick with my Old Jock, Champion etc

I just had my second go at this beer.   Tried it at a warmer temperature, also let it breathe a bit.   "Fruity".   Makes it sound like it's a noticeable taste.

Just thinking of figs, raisins and dates, should make it a strong slightly bitter but more sweet tasting.   I suppose it is.  The toffee if I have it right is that sharper taste.  I Hate it in a particular whiskey, I think it is whyte and mckay.

The chocolatey taste was disappointing ☺.    I was expecting a clear taste.    Didn't get it.

If I had to think of a food to drink it with I would go with a black forest gateau.   Raspberry, maybe strawberries.   ☺

I think I'd have to rate hobgoblin along same lines as a bishops finger.   Not bad but not good enough.

Additionally,  I had a crabbies ginger beer with some ginger cake.   Blew my taste buds, was delightful.

I  am liking doom bar Amber ale at the moment overall, although I might get some more those cabbies ginger beers.  🤔

Doombar is on draft in a few places around me, It's a nice pint.

If you like the ginger beer, try a Ginger Tom👍

If you like a beer with a bit of spice about it, I can recommend a bottle of the following, which I had last night.

Badger Brewery - Blandford Fly (used to be called Blandford Flyer, when I first tried it years ago), it has a nice spicy ginger flavour, not overly strong but more than enough to make it noticeable.

image.jpeg.189383e7ed6b1c60b8ee3f665845a80c.jpeg

I got it from Sainsbury's (Straiton), but it is widely available in most supermarkets, cost around £1.50+ per bottle.

Or one of these.

Not seen that one before.

I like Badger Brewery beers.

Miss JJ used to live in Billingshurst, West Sussex and her local the 'Six Bells' is a Hall & Woodhouse (Badger Brewery) pub and they had a good selection of Badger beers on draught.

Last time I was there was this time last year, but she's moved now so I'd guess I'll not be in the Six Bells again. 😞

Took delivery of 24 new beers yesterday so hopefully plenty of beers to post over the next few weeks.

Usually go for a dark beer,, porter or stout, if just having 1 or 2.  Don't know why really, like the coffee/chocolatey flavours you get.  Something about the colour as well just appeals to me.  Usually go for Williams bros Midnight Sun, or March of the Penguins.  The Magic Rock brewery Dark Art stout is decent too.

Those 12% ones Jimmy has shared look deliciously intriguing... It'd have to be only 1 though

Currently drinking a very nice San Miguel premium special.   Bigger than normal sized bottle.   Says they are celebrating 130  years on it.   I'll drink to that!   , 660ml 5.0%alc.

Not a big cider drinker, but enjoy one now and again when the weather's a bit warmer. For me, the ideal ciders are the Normandy ones as they seem to combine fullness and intensity of flavour without resorting to the loony-juice strength of some of the English ones. This one's a good-'un and quite a few supermarkets stock (or stocked) it:

Used to drink that all the time when I first started going to pubs.

Of course in those days you could drink a dozen or so of them in a night without worrying about your waistline or the next day on the WC.

Me old Gran used to scoop the stouts.

Seeing that McEwan's Export really made me miss Edinburgh😀 Here a decent beer would start at roughly 8 pounds at the bar and at 3 pounds in the supermarket.
