Shanks said no
30 minutes ago, Morgan said: Downhill?? Yikes!! Closest pub to where I live now having moved back to Edinburgh 5 years ago. What was a rough and ready mans pub, my dad's local, is now deserted most of the time. A Celtic supporters bus leaves from it and the Centurion Hearts bus is a distant memory. When busy the jukebox is turned up to the max and daytime drinkers sing along and fall about the bar. When we were in a couple of weeks back a shoplifter arrived having obviously visited a chemist / perfume counter and proceeded to sell his wares openly around the pub. That was bad enough but then regulars asked if the barstaff had any bags to take their purchases home, and were given them, Mrs F took a strop and decided we were leaving. Two things that made me laugh and aghast in equal measure from your post: Celtic supporters bus leaving from there. Shoplifter story. Not related to pubs, but you reminded me of a fare in the taxi last week. I dropped a woman in Niddrie in the early hours of the morning and there was still two left in the back. As we were driving through the estate in the dark, a boy appears from nowhere and runs in front of my taxi. I tried to get past him, but he kept blocking me. I put the window down and he asks me if I want to buy some perfume. I didn’t buy any, but the two women in the back did?
