We are building a ?14m stand with no debt.

It's taken us 4 years to get that.

We have had rich benefactors who have lumped money in to pay for the stand. About ?2/3m.

The new stand revenue will make us more than that over four years, so although from different sources the maths is the same.

Point still stands.

We'll have loads o' cash, I wonder how much we'll spend on the team.

Heart's in ?2.5 m swoop for... Coming to a headline near you!

Players in the current crop that are leaving without us possibly maximising their fees - Paterson, Nicholson and possibly Walker - are unusual in respect that they have come through a heck of a tumultuous period of ownership change, administration, relegation and promotion again.

It's not the most likely environment within which we could maximise our youth players potential, their value or the money we get for them.

Let's see how it pans out for the next batch....

Totally agree Rudi. The FOH contributions are going to take us to a whole new level in the coming years.

I love the people that support this wonderful club.

The extra revenue from corporate/hospitality should see us being able to expand the wage budget hopefully along with the additional ST sales and matchday revenue. We are already at the stage where we will pay a small fee if deemed appropriate (Souttar, Isma) so there is no reason we shouldn't be in the position to step it up a notch over the coming few years IMO. Exciting times

I agree but with young players they might only take 2-3 year deals, 1st year they might not show much but if they become great in year 2 it makes it difficult to get them to sign because they know in a year's time they can go for free and clubs watching also know this.

Of course some players will sign knowing that we will still sell them but want good money for them, it's a hard balance.

Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

its almost like we should give the young players a sort of rolling contract, say when coming up on one year left we can invoke the next year, or if they have played a defined number of games it is automatically invoked

We are looking at an extra 3-4 million in revenue with the new stand. Out turnover will go up 14-15 million if run properly.

Agreed

Our budget will increase significantly once the stand is up and running..

Maintaince costs will be far lower, income from increased gates and income from hugely increased hospitality will make a huge difference, once missus budge is paid we will also have to decide what to do with the 1.4m FoH subsidy after tax but my preference would be investing in the academy, investment in the business to further grow sustainable revenues(maybe the odd cheeky signing) .. All of this should see improvement in infield revenues as we surely won't be as bad in cup competition as we have been lately.. And as someone above pointed out Europe league group stages should be the target..

I liked the suggestion of the new FOH board member (forgot his name, sorry) that he envisaged us using FOH money to fund capital investments that would in turn generate more income for the club in the long run.

Was it not part of the original arrangement that NO FoH money would be used to pay for players and/or their wages. Not that I personally have any objection to it being used for that.

I'd be against using FOH money to fund a larger wage bill than we could otherwise sustain from normal trading.  I'd rather we used it for capital projects, or other investment (e.g. in the youth set up) and I wouldn't be adverse to us using it for one-off transfer fees to attract a better quality of player, as long as we can afford the ongoing wages from our operational income.

Did I miss the announcement made explaining how we were funding the shortfall? By my rough calculations (I would be ecstatic to be wrong) we are around ?3-4M short of ?14M at present.

Rather than acting all smug about having "raised" ?14M, we should be questioning where the additional funding is coming from.

I completely agree with this.

250k-500k buys a lot within Scottish football. Aberdeen have signed quality players for similar amounts or less. Spending money on a higher quality of player shouldn't be seen as a risk because Robbie Neilson lost the plot by wasting our money on dross. We have to trust the current management and if they fail, they lose their job.

Does anyone know if we have the potential to attract a major sponsor for next year and beyond? Surely that is a potential source of future income.

Agree with all the comments regarding FoH. Makes me hugely proud just to be a small part of it and a brilliant way for us exiles to support the Hearts.

Also means we can stump up ?150-?200k on promising youngsters who can potentially sell on for 10 times the value further down the line.

Unfortunately rangers will always have 10s of thousand more season ticket holders which will mean significantly bigger budget, but so long as we are clever in the way we spend/invest our additional funds then no reason why we can't challenge them consistently. Will take time and patience from the fans though, season ticket sales and FoH contributions need to remain what they are currently as a minimum, which going by the 2nd half of last season, I don't see any reason why they won't.

A huge chunk of Rangers fan base are glory hunters, as can be seen by the empty stands at the lowpoint of the McCoist era.  If they endure a sustained period of mediocrity, which at this point with the squad they have it's on the heads of Aberdeen and us and to a lesser extend Hibs if they don't, those season ticket numbers will start to drop.

The semifinal win over Celtic gave their fanbase a bit of life, but if they go another season or possibly two without taking a win off Celtic (possibly without even a result) I think they might be due for a massive epidemic of walking away.

If that happens, it's just a matter of being ready when Celtic inevitably stumbles.

Once the stand & AB has been repaid I'm not overly fussed what he monies are used for as long as it's wisely (sure it will be). One thing is for sure though. Once that money is channelled elsewhere and it starts to have an impact it'll have been several years down the road. Several years of other clubs and their fans finally realising what could be achieved if they had fans pulling together for the greater good. I'll be shocked if 10 years from now other clubs haven't tried something on the back of this. Either way, other than Celtic, they'd be playing catchup for many years to come!

I think just being debt free is an advantage with no mortgage/interest payments to the banks. I believe Hibs still pay quite a hefty fee to Tom Farmer. Will be interesting to see how our future contributions are spent after thr stand is paid for.

I don't think Farmer charges them much if any interest at all.

Every team has a large number of fans who want to see a winning team.. I watched hearts beat celtic in front of 14,000 in the 90's

I suppose a lot will depend on who is running the club once AB is bought out. FOH will have a major representation but not sure if that will be enough to control the boardroom and make these decisions.

Here's what's up for grabs.

2017 Europe league prize money was as follows:

QR1 ?215

QR2 ?225

QR3 ?235

Group Stage clubs recieved guaranteed ?2.6m plus bonuses for W/D.

This should be our medium/long term objective & we should be trying to reach the group stages which would net us a guaranteed ?3m minimum.

Tough but not impossible.

Think it's fair to say that with our owners and their objectives they are actively trying to generate as much revenues as possible and the great thing for us supporters is that in years to come we will be investing much more in the squad than we are now - we can all do the math

Once everything is in play then we should overtake Aberdeen comfortably in turnover terms unless they see significant more investment

Meanwhile down at the methodone Rods ready to do another wee calculation ...

So if we got to group stages its about ?3M prize money alone then TV, more if we get points on the board in group... Not to mention ticket sales and you'd expect QR3 to be sellout, group games to be sellouts, ?500,000 minimum per match... say half mil for QR1 and 2 combined... another ?2million plus.

Probably worth a ?6million boost to the coffers overall I'd guess, a run to the groups...

That I think is the objective for us in the next 5 years. That coupled with the new stand and the FOH contributions transforms us completely

Pretty close to the ?6m you suggest, as group game win bonus is over ?200,000 with ?120,000 for a draw

It does not matter about who controls the boardroom as control of the FOH monies can only be at the agreement of the FOH directors and members at present. We are a long way off and have considerable commitments to meet with payment of Mrs Budge and the new stand. No matter how you turn it over the present annual FOH total is ?1.4. Not a lot of money, but a meaningful contribution if wisely spent. The FOH monies will never and cannot be spent directly on transfer and player wages under the present legal set up. We are not Rangers.

heartstastic

It's good to see some fans can see the longer term view. The '5 year plan' imo was to hand over the club to the fans with the infrastructure in place to take us too a new level, bigger capacity, new and improved corporate income streams and a revamped youth setup with top class training enviorment. For all the mishaps on the playing side this last year or so, in a few years we will be in the best shape we have ever been in the vast majority of supporters lifetimes.

Exciting times ahead.
