The neverending saga of Jamie Walker / no deal, he stays at Hearts (updated)

I thought the days that any young Scottish player dreamed of playing for Rankers died in 2012, sickening for a so called Hearts fan to be so obviously desperate to play for them. Good riddance and hope he ends up like Templeton.

So John colquhoun is Sam, Jamie and callums agent right?

All three rejected contracts right?

Hmmm

Not correct.  A quick google search shows that Paterson, Nicholson, Souttar and Smith are represented by Key Sports Management.  Walker's agent is Houldsworth apparently.

The Comedian

It's pathetic

The club have been reduced to having to issue a statement because of its own rumour mongering classless scum 'fans' basically trying to destabilise the club.

They are a cancer as much as The Pieman was.

Calm down to a riot you absolute beamer.

MacKay and O'Halloran plus money would be decent business but most of the huns players are on inflated wages so can't see that happening.

Colquhoun is the director of a company which represents Nicholson and Paterson. His involvement in this is at best minimal and the circumstances even with these two players are very different.

Anyway, Walker is with another company completely.

My bad

To be fair, it's not like we should know who the players agents are anyway. As i said - i had to google it. The day that agents become as well known as the players is the day we should all give up.

Always hated agents, due to my fathers blind hatred of John Robertsons agent believe it was Bill Mcmurdo?

Also think he was Mo Johnstons and McCoists agent, not quite sure why my dad disliked him so much - just read he was heavily affiliated with Hibs so that might be it :D

Sorry to go off topic and well done the club.

I don't think the club should be responding like this to social media chatter. I reckon this sort of statement is actually more "damaging" than the social media gossip itself.

Walker or his family have made him look a penis here.

If he wants to leave fair enough, if he wants to do it on a Bosman - while shitty, fair enough. But there's no need to be snidely little shit spreading lies that you've been 'forced out'. Be man enough to atleast admit that's you're plan.

Nailed it man!

Looks like their "business strategy" is a fail.

I'm delighted the club have made this statement. Having our name dragged through the mud is getting old .

It's about dignity, not how much we will make from Walker's transfer!

Jamie rejects 1st contract offer = wants away from the club. Aye okay then.

Hearts should release a statement admitting that Levein is a liar. Why release a statement with all walkers stats? Ridiculous.

To be fair to all involved, how do we know that an incrediblely small raise wouldn't make him top earners.

If he earns 3900 and the top earner gets 4000 he only needs 100 more a week.

This is where I am, I think both parties could be correct, and both be rightly disappointed.

If we go for some Football Manager style guesswork, and base it on some rumours (large pinch of salt taken...) wages of our higher earners are around:

Oshaniwa - up to ?4000 but large chunks of that as bonus/appearance fees (hence the 3 year deal -  to give him some 'security' for accepting a lower basic wage), so say basic is around ?2500

Sammon - around ?3000 (say that is majority basic), would make sense if dropping down from Derby where he was presumably on at least 2-3x that.

Walker - say he is currently on ?2800 (as is rumoured in this thread), a ?100-200 bump a week (also rumoured) could make him top basic earner (as Hearts have said), but he expects/wants to be nearer the ?4000 Osh can earn

Hearts therefore feel they have offered their top wage, Walker feels he is worth more than Osh, and that he can certainly earn more by heading to Rangers (who may or may not have been in his ear about a move). Both parties are displeased with the other. Hearts decide to cash in, especially if they feel his head has been turned after verbally agreeing a contract.

Disappointing but we move on. No-one who can earn big will stay here. I do wonder if some of it is however loss of camaraderie as all his chums have left the club. He did seem to have lost enthusiasm. Hopefully we get some decent money but if we don't it will prove those that posted that he wasn't anywhere good enough for a cap right. Will anyone name and shame them if he goes for big money and then has a great career, I hope someone has a list  :tiny:

Spectacularly missing the point of this thread. ::facepaw::

Social media is phenomenally powerful now and most large businesses employ teams to monitor how they are perceived on a daily basis. Maybe a lesson to learn for the club about transparency and keeping paying and donating customers informed.

Who said it was the 1st offer?

The club statement says we offered him a deal in Feb, he initially seems like he would sign it but has changed his mind. The statement goes into loads of irrelevant details - I'm sure if we made an earlier offer and it was rejected it would be mentioned in the statement

Yes, but giving him a ?200 rise and taking him to the club's wage limit is very different to giving him a ?200 rise and him being on "a pittance" and offended by all the guys on higher wages as was regularly suggested here.

Walker would have been aware the wage offer made him our highest paid player and that it was probably at our "cap", if such a thing exists.

Mich of the criticism aimed at the club was for supposedly offering him a pitiful contact and effectively forcing him off of the door when we should have been making him a highest earner. Now it seems that the club were trying to do exactly what many fans wanted all along.

Think you'll find I said fair play to the club on the statement. But you knew that anyway unless you just waded in with your size 11's and spouted drivel without actually looking at the posts on threads.

It's like an anti heart agenda from actual hearts fans. The fact the club has to defend itself from shite pedalled from its own support is crazy. Lets get behind the club ffs. Too many fannys taking the huff because we are on a bad run.

Spot on. It's disappointing.

Maybe.

The statement also needs to be considered in the context of us selling our prized asset. In responding to this gossip, we are airing our dirty linen which can, in my opinion, only harm our bargaining position.

Don't think this was the first offer. It was an agreed offer, then later on he drops it and presumably demands whatever Rangers are offering him

Good statement from the club. Not great that it had to come out but puts a stop to the rumours.

Bad PR? Lucky we are a football club then      If the point in this statement was that players will be less likely to sign for us, please think back to some of Romanov's statements and then think of the calibre of player we signed.

The club have obviously decided that they were in danger of suffering reputational damage that could impact negatively on prospective transfer deals. On the face of it, social media outpourings from the player's dad were taken as fact. The club could not let that stand if it was anything less then fact. The statement shows not only that it was fake news, but was actually total bollocks. We've basically made Walker an offer that says you are our most valued player. That should be encouraging to all of us who are Hearts supporters.

To go against the popular opinion here, I dont think this is a great statement from Hearts.

They are making it appear that Jamie is the bad guy whereas I believe the truth will lie somewhere in the middle (as some other posters have also said).

I cannot see him returning to Tynecastle so wish him all the best, whereever he goes.

Jamie Walker has been a superb player for us and will be badly missed and incredibly difficult to replace.

Show me where I made any comment resembling a lie regarding walker and i will gladly hold my hands up? I made two comments on this thread on page 2 and 4 or 4 i think none of which said Levein had lied or was lying. Then another two since the statement including the one you just quoted.

As usual your scatter gunning and frothing at the mouth making a tit of yourself as usual

To be fair to the club, they needed to address the defamation - although they may have gone overboard.

Regarding Walker being the bad guy, in this situation I'd have to say he is. Hearts have offered him a wage taking him to the top of our structure, he has provisionally agreed to do so before rejecting it (which is his right). The club has given them the best offer they can and it's been turned down, not sure what else they could do.

As such, Walker refusing the deal indicates that he wishes to leave. As presumably we cannot match his wage demands and he won't sign for less than he wants.

He said walker wants to leave.

As far as the club are concerned, he does. He has refused an offer at the maximum they can offer within the bracket, he isn't going to change his mind and sign for less.

Of course the club should just sit back and say nothing while the social media warriors spread lies and gossip about how Hearts handle their negotiations with players. Nor should they say anything when these same people accuse their DOF of lying.  I mean these people are 'Hearts fans' and entitled to their "opinions". Perhaps it might have been better just to have our DOF instruct his lawyer to find the identities of these people from social media with a view to banning them from Tynecastle.

Social Media has bred a culture of people who think they can say anything they like regardless of the trouble and distress it causes.
