jambos are go!

There would be a huge and unparalled democratic deficit if any party got 54 out of 59 seats with 33% of the vote. And public outcry with calls for constitutional reform.

I don't disagree, but that's the Westminster way!

The UK had a referendum on a different voting system in 2011.

It was soundly defeated.

Suck it up buttercup.

It doesn't really matter. The point is fptp distorts the much celebrated "will of the people".

Trapper John McIntyre

Pretty much the same as the last round of local elections in 2012.

Actually we got 105,000 more votes than the last time.

Makes no difference.

First preference vote share in 2017 Scottish local elections: Unionist Parties = 52.3% SNP/Green = 36.4% a ratio of 59:41

SNP didn't do very well in 2012. Comparing to then, you should be miles ahead of Scotland really backs the drive for Indy. Unfortunately for you, it ain't happening!

But still backing the SNP in massive numbers.

Square that circle.

Massive numbers but not over 50% which means that independence is just going to continue stifling the progress of Scotland. SNP will be in charge of Scotland while we languish and eventually the people will have enough and get rid of them.

Nowhere near enough to gain their prize.

And now on the slide.

German pal from the weekend was a No and now a Yes.

I guess that'll be the case with nearly every EU National now.

It was soundly defeated. Wouldn't have addressed the issue in question.

Suck it up buttercup.

It was a shit system being proposed.

How many EU Nationals do you think there are who are normally resident in Scotland?

300k, 400k maybe 500k?

Unfortunately, from you perspective, not that many.

The most common non-UK nationals resident in Scotland are from Poland (86,000), India (16,000), Republic of Ireland (16,000), United States of America (15,000) and Pakistan (11,000).

Outnumbered by those from other parts of the UK.

Good result for the Conservatives overall.

Corbo's Labour trailing in third, a spent force at present.

Some people waking up to the fact that the miner's strike and implementation of the poll tax were a long time ago.

I'll wager that your 'nights in' are full of hilarious japes and scintillating conversation.

Are you saying that what is being reported there isn't the truth?

There is a difference between spinning statistics, for example, and reporting it, and then reporting on what has actually happened.

I'd say the story linked to represents the latter.

It's the same with WM. I like fptp because I like to see what I'm buying. But I do like Alex Salmond's vision of a national list, instead of a local one. Plus I think the list should be largest votes get first pick. For example, not preferred members like Kez down and say you have the most votes, but then miss out.

What's your own preferred system, GBJ?

Tremendous stuff!!

Not for the people of South Ayrshire it's not. They'll agree nothing and get nothing done except to oppose the conservatives.
