In a business sense, it would be smarter for them to trigger the extra year meaning we would need to give them Paterson (a matter complicated by the fact CP might not want to go there) or someone else has to buy him. I'd still be pretty confident it will be resolved and he'll sign for us. Why would Paterson be part of the deal if his contract is up at end of this season - surely he can go where he wants as he is no longer our player? They have European football next season and can probably pay more wages than us. Their management structure isn't as shambolic as ours either. I remember the poster on here who had been sent a text message by Berra in January saying he knew nothing about a move to Hearts. Thinking about it now, with what we know about the option that was in the contract, Christophe couldn't let anything out of the bag. He's a professional and was behaving like one. He wants to come back to Edinburgh. He's a Hearts supporter. The club knows they need to sign a few players of his ilk and fast. As I say, shocked if it doesn't happen. I also know of a guy who knows Steven Whittakers dad. 2 clubs in Scotland have approached him. Rangers and......Hearts. All things being equal, you'd assume Rangers would be favourites but apparently there is some ill feeling over the way he was treated upon leaving Ibrox when they were liquidated. We'll see.
