The trouble is that too many of the the UK electorate know that he's telling lies, know that he's a liar and that the Conservatives have promoted corruption on a grand scale, especially during Covid. However, there is not an opposition party that the same electorate trust to be any better, so they will generally stick with the devil they know. The traditional main opposition to the Conservatives, Labour, can't seem to get it into their heads that they need to realise that the political demographic of the UK has changed since the 1970s. Not nearly enough people want a government of the old left wing ideology anymore. Much of the old industry and home circumstance has changed to many people owning their own homes and having jobs which don't involve going into a huge factory or down a hole in the ground. Corbyn, and his believers, were soundly rejected last time. We keep being told by his supporters that it was all down to the press demonizing him, without any appreciation of how easy he made it for them. He was a disaster for the Labour party. The Labour party membership, in my opinion, need to understand that until they capture the centre ground, and instal confidence in the electorate that they are serious about being a centre/left party, they are subjecting the very people that they claim to want to help, to an even longer period of Conservative domination. Like him or loathe him, Tony Blair got the Conservatives out, after a long period in power, and kept them out. He didn't do that by being seen as ultra left wing. He did it by grabbing the centre ground and thereby putting himself in a position to help the traditional Labour voter, without alienating the majority of the rest of the electorate. After as, Brexit is now being marketed as the transformation of the UK to a high wage economy, so surely the min wage will be shooting up. Watch this space. The problem is with the Labour membership. Their conference was dominated by hobby horse issues instead of things that ordinary people care about. I have voted Labour before and I am open to voting for them again. But they have to disinfect the party of Corbyn influence. I don't envy Kier Starmer's job. jambogaza
Today, the Tories have chosen to remove money from some of the poorest families in the country, at a time when the costs of living are soaring. It is despicable and morally repugnant. The UK is one of the richest states in the world. It is intolerable that many people, including children, will face a choice between being warm or having food. I hate the Tories - I am ideologically opposed to them in almost all ways. But this is another level.

Victorian
I think they've completely lost all sense of their direction. They're supposedly the party of business and commerce but, as well as already having placed a burden of higher employers' NIC contributions on businesses, they now insist that business adopts a radical new settlement of higher wages (thus raising NIC contributions even further) and invests heavily in logistics, plant and improved conditions, etc. Lumping all kinds of notional burdens on business in the full knowledge it will never happen in actuality. Laying the groundwork for being able to avoid a compromise to allow the necessary level of cheap foreign labour that the economy must include to meet gaps in labour supply. Delegating responsibility. Abdicating the duties of government. The only end result is further low levels of wages, labour shortages, shortages of goods and services, rising prices, under performing tax yield, underfunded public services, continued wealth creation and retention by the corporate world who must be pissing themselves laughing at their stooges' sterling performance.
