With Challenger II upkeep costing more and more, there was also a serious proposal to end domestic tank production and buy Leopards from Ze Germanz instead.

The brave British Tommies riding around in Panzers.

The flag shaggers would love that.

At the trial of some Extinction Rebellion protestors who were arrested during a protest outside a Murdoch Group printworks, the extent of political interference in the Policing action from Arsehole Patel cannot be determined as all texts and phone calls between the Arsehole and the head of Hertfordshire Polis have been lost "due to an IT error"

Wanting rights is left wing.

Ergo the Law is marxist.

The law is also about protecting the rights of businesses. Ergo the the law is conflicted, like a champagne socialist..

I suppose you could argue that Magna Carta was the original Marxist document, but that just confuses the hard of thinking.

I don't think it's off base to suggest the judiciary is mainly left leaning. You obviously do so we should just leave it there.

The early church held everything in common, made sure nobody went short. Certainly one in the eye for the nutjob "religious right" Republicans!

Did/Does Boris lie?

I'm beginning to think he isn't lying, he just doesn't understand. He isn't clever enough to understand.

Is this worse than lying?

UK has a PM who just doesn't understand...

Boris has a long history of lying. It was also claimed he didn’t understand the deal he signed. Therefore IMO he did both.

Every politician has a long history of lying. Some just pretend that they don't remember and get away with it

Sorry but I find that an easy get out for tory voters. "they are all just as bad as each other"

No they are not, this tory government is the worst I've ever known. The level of dishonesty, lies, corruption, greed is unmissable.

It's usually called "the arrogance of power". When a party has been in government for so long, and with such a self harming main opposition, they think they can try to do what they like and see what happens. The Conservatives did this before during the Thatcher and Major years until the electorate decided it had gone on long enough.

Unfortunately, it looks like the vast majority of the electorate, particularly in England, don't care that their government is rife with liars and corrupt people, because they "got Brexit done", annoy Johnny Foreigner and fly or show the Union flag at every opportunity.

To be honest though, are there other political parties out there who don't have their fair share of dodgy characters? The UK has gone to the dogs and is showing little sign of showing any coherent plan or desire to retrieve the high ground of honesty and integrity it is supposed to be proud of.

Johnson surrounds himself with incompetents and losers because chaos suits him'

No matter how bad you are it is almost impossible to get sacked from Boris Johnson's Cabinet - he has such a cynical disregard for the voters he doesn't seem to care that he is allowing the country to be run by people who are not up to the task

Boris Johnson seems to take pride in surrounding himself with incompetents, losers and no hopers.

No matter how bad you are it is almost impossible to get sacked from his Cabinet.

That seat had been held by the same MP since 1992.

Her death was what triggered the by-election.

Seems that voter loyalty was to HER rather than to the Tory party.

I think they said on the radio this morning that it's all always been Tory, not 100% on that.

Quite a mental turn either way

Constituency formed in 1974.

Had two MPs since.

Sir Ian Gilmour (1974-1992)
Dame Cheryl Gillan (1992-2021)
