Who said anything about piping water to Kent?  You are now saying they build "their own facilities" as if you are suddenly not one of them.

You are insisting that England can't solve their own projected water shortages, and implying that they would be dependant on Scotland.

The reverse argument can be used on energy as Scotland is going to run out of nuclear power stations in the not too distant future and may have to import energy from England, where they are investing.

Looks like the iNews and the BBC are fake now 😕

Never heard of iNews before, and I didn't reply to your BBC post.

You bash on with whatever point you think you made amongst your personal abuse.  I'm off for a curry. 👍

Have you ever drunk flood water? or tried to retain it for drinking?

Tbf there is technology that can .

I think I'm right in saying it's already happening in one of the middle east countries with sea water?

Dont know what the cost would be though and going on experience I'd say any future government in Westminster would likely just use Scotlands.

Utter bollocks.  So you believe some figures but only the ones you like.

For these reasons, renewable energy markets offer a huge economic opportunity for Scotland. Currently the renewables industry contributes £5.9 billion to Scotland’s economy and employs more than 21,400 people. Exports of renewable electricity are at their highest since 2017.

Please note the article was an extract from an interview in 2019. The First Minister, who has called for indyref2to be held in the second half of next year in the wake of the UK's departure from the EU, said her government would "work to ensure" it took place.

Readers should also note that the so-called 'promise' I asked Ainsley to verify was merely the journalist's interpretation of what Sturgeon said viz (presuming the text quoted in the article is accurate)

"And we will work to ensure that people in Scotland have the chance to determine our own future – by deciding whether we wish to become an independent country."

By my reading 'work to ensure' does not equate to 'promise'.

Then again, I'm not straw-clutchingly trying - and failing - to prove some point.

Think we in general as Scots are Labour minded (bit of a crap term).

Scots were not always though .

We were a conservative nation small c.

When you think of how strong Labour were in Scotland I think people do feel the same way you do.

Taking the steps to go full independent does scare many.

I dont think it's a case of being gullible.

If theres anyone who doesnt trust the media in general it's me.

It's been a monumental shift in politics up here to who were once labelled tartan tories with good reason.

I would say I was small c Scottish Conservative. Not that idiot Ruth Davidson type as she's a Brit loon. More of an Adam Smith type. I believe in wealth recreation and tax fairness but also the need to look after the people less fortunate.

There was a very good article by the adam smith institute that put forward the economic case for independence.

Answered the currency question and the lack of a central bank head on.

Not sure its palatable for the Scottish electorate.

In fact it said that Scotland would undoubtedly prosper.

Tbh I'm more of a socialist I suppose.

But try going down that route after indy and we would get a doing.

Anyway tried looking for the Adam Smith thing in full.

Found this instead

The definition of the word ensure: make certain that (something) will occur or be the case.

Get yourself back to clutching those straws

And she will work to achieve that.

The only people seeing that as a concrete promise to deliver a second independence referendum are either the hard-of-understanding or wilful trolls.

Which are you?

I've not read it. Just a summary of Smith himself and the bits that chimed with me. Scotland is a great nation outwith the UK thought processes as we have always had our own legal and education system. I just think we have drifted apart, politically.

Getting there.

But like the other anti-indyref folk I've interacted with on this thread, it would have weakened your argument to post accurate information.

That speaks louder than the hysterical sound-bites we've been subjected to.

After we “leave the EU” at end of Jan and the U.K. moves into a transitional phase, what does Get Brexit Done mean?

According to some above we will leave within 5 years, which is going to be some achievement since there won't be a General Election to change government to one sympathetic to grant a section 30 order.

Hello @Boof, I feel the need to apologise to you as I was drinking some pure and strong vodka last night, and have little recollection of this conversation, except that I was very annoyed with you, as I reckoned you were being ridiculously pedantic.

I'm sorry for trying to discuss something when I was drunk.

Worry not, my good Jambo.

At one point I did have a post typed out wondering if you were pished but thought it would be too rude to post

I'm sure everyone wants more or less the same things in life - it's just how we achieve them - individually and collectively - that seems to be the main area of disagreement.

Once again - peace out :)

The No side won a majority of the votes cast. That majority was not big enough to represent 50% of the electorate as around 12% of the electorate did not vote.
