Fort Vallance

Maybe Eintracht Frankfurt? We played a friendly against them late 60s/early 70s.

I think that may be Tommy Veitch 3rd in line.

I thought the 3rd one was Alan McDonald

Dave McCreery's knee

Looks like all work will have to stop.

Greenginger has spoken:

They have not submitted a " Notice of Initiation of Development " form.

The form gives details of the Planning Permission and Building Warrant ref and more importantly details of the main contractor and name of site agent and contact numbers.

Starting work with submitting the Notice is listed on the planning consent notes as a breach of Planning Law, Section 123 (1) of the Town and Country Planning Act.

But, according to them the new lot are nothing like Vlad and his Liths.

He bases everything from the Council potral and other websites which are never up to date. He has been weong at every turn yet his fellow fans never call him out. The fact is that we have a client and project team who are progressing the consents and the development in a professional manner. Gutting for some but no suprise to Hearts fans.

August Landmesser

It was planned to go all the way road the school end and join the main stand but the council refused planning due to the loss of light in the school class rooms.

Imagine if the whole School End had been covered - it would have been raucous!

I thought it was Peter Oliver but now I think it's Arthur Mann?

If it's the Eintracht game in 1969 (http://www.londonhearts.com/scores/games/196904141.html) then that was the year after Arthur Mann transferred to Man C. I thought at first it was Peter Oliver too but it seems that it is Alan McDonald as others have said (tbh, I can't even remember him playing for us)

The Treasurer

Passed today and still no JCB!!!! plenty big bins and skips though.

Would imagine they are clearing out the internal fittings and fixtures before the wrecking ball can get to work.

This picture shows how much things have changed in Gorgie, and not just the ground.

I'm sure a few of the "young uns" would struggle to recognise this as Tynecastle

I only recognise it as Tynecastle because of the road layout.

Very, very different these days!

Tongue in cheek by me. Without looking closely at the bins and skips I reckon they are sorting out recycling and salvaging what they can rather than dump the lot.

It's got to be Miley for the half time music, as much as I hate her.

I remember him  mainly through him being a long throw specialist.

Must be a prog mistake cause he not only played but scored our goal in a 1:1 draw. [emoji1]

Again, my memory may not be good, but Ernie may have just signed for Hearts before this match. Maybe not enough time to alter the programme?

They've started on the Mercer buildings according to a photo on the website. Out of view from the street.

That is what I thought as well.

Terrific player he was.

Just looking at the names on Hearts team just about all these guys were at Tynecastle for years and I think the same could have been said about most clubs back then. Players stayed with clubs far longer them. No wonder there is no bond between fans and players nowadays they hardly have their feet under the table and then they are away.

We finished 8th that season, 12th the season before and 11th the season before that. Hearts could barely scrape 6,000 fans for run of the mill league games.

Those were the days?

Those were the days for me Bill.I didn't know the average crowd. To be honest I don't think any of us even cared.I don't think any of us even said what's the crowd today. If I'm wrong please correct me

Funny how the memory plays tricks. These guys were hero's to me but you are right the league placings were chronic. So they couldn't have been all that good.

We are much better off now but I wish we could hold on to decent players for longer.

Funny you should mention some of the poor crowds though,  just think we will have more fans in our new stand than we had for a total attendance at some games in that era.

Roger Ramjet on .net says we can't knock this building down as we don't own it.

That Chris Graham boy will be ragin' that we just knocked his building down.

And so it begins , a tear in my eye for the Main (Old) stand , held my season ticket there for a very long time and spent many saturdays in the enclosure as a young lad . Very happy memory's in the main as well as some testing times along the way . Looking forward to the next chapter

Stop stop....Ann what have you done...greenginger says that's illegal you're worse than Vlad....and the nursery kids what about them.

:pleased:  Don't worry about the kids, looks like they are enjoying a bit of "work experience" with the JCB.

You know it makes sense, keeps the "costs" down to upset the other side of town :toff:

I actually find it amusing how much it annoys Hibs fans. They need to get over the fact that Edinburgh sees Heart of Midlothian Football Club as an established part of the fabric of our capitol city.

Nobody wanted, asked for or needed a shite little tinpot tribute act to be founded down in the filthy dockside slums. It doesn't seem to matter how many times the city shuns them and turns their noses up at them, they still convince themselves that they are welcome, wanted and necessary. I wish they would just take the hint and **** off. Edinburgh neither wants nor needs them.

Garland in goals, was this one of those periods where Cruickie fell out with the club, or was he just injured?

I'm going to miss looking at that stand.

Sat in section B for nearly a decade... I am not going to miss looking at it. I probably would miss it more if I'd spent more time sitting in it.
