A wonderful photo of 'Commando Training'.

Pre season 1966 in Perthshire.

Taken from Neil Strevens' superb scrapbooks.

Great pic

Could you imagine players doing that now. Health and Safety Brigade would be in an uproar!

Have you got the match ball from the cup final in '98 up on display yet? :)

It isn't in the case yet but you can hold it and get your photo taken with it.

Well done all those involved.

Got to touch the 1998 match ball. Very privileged.

Visited today and was told that these original plans for the memorial clock had just been handed in.

We were blown away by them.

When you are feeling down and think the Hearts are doing badly. Then visit the museum and remind yourself why you are a Hearts supporter. If you don't leave the museum cheered up then you never will be.

One of the joys of working in the Museum.

Paul Garden (lifelong Jambo) across from USA says "Are you interested in this photo?"

The expression "Something for the Weekend, sir?" had a different meaning back then...

Was at that game with my brother. We were at the top of the big high terracing. The players all looked like midgets from that height. Remember being awestruck at the size of the crowd. Happy days indeed.

If it is as windy as forecast tomorrow we won't open the big metal gates but the little one at the side. So it might look as if we are shut but we will be open.

Was that the game we won 5 1 with Gordon Smith scoring against the Hibs. Think Dave Mackay and Bobby Blackwood also scored, Great day and if I recall the highlights were shown UK wide in the evening as Wally Barnes (ex Arsenal ) was doing the commentary.

Alex Young says He scored 4 that day. He is credited with a hat-trick the other being an og.

The Museum will be shut on Saturday 21st January due to the Bonnyrigg Rose v Hibs Cup Tie.

A game that could inspire a section on famous neutral venue games.

Thanks again. Great memories from yesteryear which are good to re-capture.

I can't remember games from last season never mind almost 60 years ago.

11:20mins on this clip. The match ball from the 1896 Scottish Cup final (HMFC 3 Hibs 1).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t7Xnkwb_Yk

Do we still have that?

Ball update. We think there is a mistake in the video. The ball is from the 1906 Final rather than 1896 which we do have on display.

We will do a closer inspection to confirm.

What ball dating techniques do you tend to use? I assume all non-invasive. :)

Well that has shattered the illusion from the 1992 video :(

At least we won ten years later.

I'm in duel custody of an International football jersey worn by Tommy Walker against England in 1936. This cherished item needs to be aired and admired by young Jambos that still proclaim Gorgie rules!
