We had a very special visitor 92y old David Philip. A fan since the 1930s.

He also donated 17 wonderful scrapbooks covering years 1949 to 1965.

Uncovered this gem from the 1959 scrapbook

An amazing resemblance to Andy Murray who should be proud that his Grandad played against one of the illustrious Scottish teams of all time

That photo gives an indication of the great strength of Willie Bauld.  He seemed to have an amazing spring and could jump very high for a relatively short man.  Brilliant timing as well.

Although I was very much a youngster I remember him well and I remember just how much he was idolised.  In a team of stars there was only one King.

HERITAGE TRAIL
FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HEROES

Follow in the footsteps of heroes as we reveal where the Heart of Midlothian Football Club, one of Edinburgh’s oldest institutions, was formed. Discover hidden gems of Hearts heritage as our experienced tour guides show us where the first players kitted up and practiced and where Directors met to discuss Club business.  Stand with us at the location of the first ever Scottish Cup tie; learn how match results were shared in the olden days, and how work mates became team mates as they discovered a love of the game.

Relax on our luxury coach while our professional tour guides share the extensively researched story of the history of Hearts, let us escort you through an unforgettable experience filled with fun and facts and football.

THE TOUR

A pick up point is provided for locals at Tynecastle Park, and the guided tour begins at the Heart of Midlothian on the Royal Mile where trail goers can choose to join us directly.

10:30 - Tynecastle Park for a 10:45 departure
11:00 - Heart of Midlothian, St Giles’ Cathedral, High Street - trail begins.
The route takes us from the Heart of Midlothian at St Giles Cathedral, to the Quadrille Assembly where the Club was formed.  We weave a trail through the streets of Edinburgh, occasionally disembarking to walk in the footsteps of those who went before us, and to remember what life was like for the early Hearts players.  Our coach tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours and will bring us back via the Haymarket war memorial, through the streets of Gorgie and to pay our respects at the final resting place of some of the key figures in the Club’s history.

Extensively researched by our Club Historians and Curators, the tour ends at Tynecastle Park where you’ll be welcomed into the Museum for some refreshments.

We're booked on the trail for the 4th March, I'm guessing this'll be cancelled.  Do you happen to know if we'll just be slotted in to one of the April dates or if there will be a new date?  Thanks in advance if you have any info.
