The Mayan's were so advanced they couldn't save their own civilisation, go figure. I think part of the problem and mistake all of these modern doom sayers are making is quite a simple one, really. They are taking calendars or texts in the case of the bible and try and apply modern logic, understanding and thinking to texts which are thousands of years old, they are completely failing to take into account the knowledge and understanding of the world the people who wrote the texts believed in during their lifetime.
