martoon
I like Kate Bush. Lots of good songs and and a good voice. However, her vocals on WH make my teeth itch. A bag of cats/brick wall shriek-a-thon.

felix
Kate Bush was a unique talent in the 1970's but also a shining example of : it's not what you know, it's who you know.

Dagger Is Back
The first female solo artist to have written and performed a UK No1 I believe

Interesting. I’d love to hear more. For me, she is the best pop vocalist of all time. Operatic range in her voice. Whats the thing about her getting hits because of who she knew? There's a brilliant BBC documentary on You Tube - called something like: Running Up That Hill - The Kate Bush Story. Worth a watch if you're a fan. Unbelievable talent - voice , dance and lyrically. Wrote & performeed the Man With The Child In His Eyes at 15 !! But..I suspect, if she didn't have family connections with Dave Gilmour - who promoted her during Wish You Were Here, no-one would have heard of her. Elton John's observation early in the Story - after inviting her to his civil ceremony in 2005 - sums the KB enigma up for me.

When I saw that there was a Kate Bush thread that I hadn't posted on, I thought I really should open the thread and do my civic duty by posting the Babooshka poster from my teenage years. Global pandemic, Trump as president, Boris as PM, Neil Doncaster as anything and Kate with no Babooshka. It's a crazy time we're living through, IPK. Very appropriate surname too back in the day when Davy Crockett hats were in fashion. Probably Kate Brazil these days. I wouldn't mind finding out for myself if that is the case or not. JudyJudyJudy
She is fantastic. One of Britain's great female vocalists as well as writer of songs. Her lyrics are weird and wacky at times..." Running up that Hill" " Sat on your lap " " Hounds of Love" , are just incredible. Great talent.

The verses sound like it's about some bursd wanting to switch bodies with her boyfriend so she knows what it feels like and vice versa, but then you get to the chorus and she's running up trees and buildings and shit. some people have stated that its about someone dying of cancer and wanting to trade their unhealthy body with a healthy body. !
