Swedish thriller "End of Summer" - 6 parter on BBC

My wife and I both  thought it was excellent - very atmmospheric (love the opening credits)

Reminded me a little of Hitchcock's "Vertigo" or Brian de Palma's Hitchcock tribute "Obsession" (and that's high praise from me as I love both of those films)

1st episode broadcast tonight and all 20 could have been fired! 😄😄

Still great tv but the level of contestant sharply nose-dives each year. How any can be given investment is baffling.

The absolute state of both teams but the girls did take the biscuit ! 😝

I’ve started watching the Amazon documentary series about the Nicholas Rossi case fully expecting it to be bonkers.

Sadly it's accurate as to the standard of what I see at my work these days. Folk in late 20's/early 30's who are only interested in their own careers making decisions with zero appreciation of the impact those decisions will have if, and more invariably when, things start to go wrong.

They specialise in no accountability, no responsibility and no ability other than self promotion.

Cheat, on Netflix. A quiz show where you’re encouraged to cheat. Joint hosted by Danny Dyer. Gave the first episode a watch out of curiosity. It was exactly what I thought it would be…a steaming pile of shoite. Such a bad show, don’t inflict this upon yourself

I've just stumbled across an Australian show called "Jack Irish". It's on Channel 4 on demand. (or whatever they call it now.)

It has three seasons, the first dating to 2012, and is about an unconventional lawyer who works out of the back room of a pub getting caught up in various crime investigations.  There is also a strong sub-plot around Aussie horse racing.

I'm pretty sure they deliberately filter out any good applicants, and pick the biggest muppets, as it makes for more entertaining TV watching them make ****s of themselves.

Also has three stand alone feature length films as well that are worth watching. All on C4 catch up.  Series and feature versions all really good.

Didn't know about the stand-alones.  I'm on season two, so will look out for them after.

Like a lot of things on streaming these days you’ve a feeling it’s a big build up to the next (last?) season.
Also there’s a post credits scene on episode 8

They are listed in here in order.  Help you search for them on catch up 👍

The films were before the series.

No bother and if you like these Aussie drama's then others you might want to consider are Black Snow, Mystery Road and the Mystery Road: Origin series. I think they are all on BBC IPlayer.

Black Snow stars the guy who was lead in Vikings, Travis Fimmel.

Mystery Road is the original series and Origin is the main character in his early years.

All are really good, well made with some good plots.

Ok I will stop stalking you now :clyay:

Not a series, but The Investigation of Lucy Letby, a 90 minute documentary, launched on Netflix yesterday.

Far too short to go into depth, but gives an overview of her arrests ( body cams), police interviews and specialists' views. The mother of one of the babies is also interviewed which gives a new perspective.

As someone who hasnt watched Dr Who in years, if not decades, is it something you can just watch without any background from that?

I didn't realise it was a Dr who spin off until after I finished it. I've probably not watched Dr who since Peter davidson was the Dr, ot maybe it was sylvester McCoy. I tried watching it when it restarted but it just felt like a kids programme.

This didn't feel like that at all, it's a stand alone story, but the race from the sea, they were called sea devil's apparently in Dr who, have been mentioned previously.

Might give it a watch then, had been put off by reading it was a spinoff

To be fair, if I realised that it was a spin off, I probably wouldn't have watched it either. Glad I did though.

Girl Taken. Started out well but descended into farce and I can't stand Jill Halfpenny, such a one dimensional actress. One of those series I only stuck with it to see what happened at the end and it wasn't worth the bother.. 4/10

The second episode was on last night and it's a continuation.

The guy, Dan seems to have a bit of sense about him. He was stupidly over-looked for leading the sub-team based on hus background. The budget Michael Hutchence then ignored all his useful suggestions.

The PM for the girls got lucky that her team gave her a marketable character for their story book as her leadership and pitch was woeful.

Yea watched it . Cringe filled . That Keiran geezer is a hoot , with his Michael Douglas 1980s “ Wall Street “ slicked back hair / Danny Dyer crossover ! 🤣 no wonder Sugar kept him in . Yes her leadership was awful . Both books were tragic too . Still entertaining car crash tv

Fallout season 2 comes to an end with another decent season under its belt.

Plenty fan service, still accurate to the games and the lore of the setting.

Still lots of questions still to be answered but they are planning this to be a single 5 season story so each season can be seen as a chapter in that story.

Make sure you stick around for the post-credits scene in episode 8.

I only just started watching the 2nd season of Fallout this week, once all the episodes were available. It's still excellent.

Walton Goggins continues to be one of my favourite current actors. I don't recall ever seeing him give a poor performance, and he's brilliant again as the Ghoul/Cooper Howard.

Enjoying this season of The Lincoln Lawyer. I quite enjoy how much the prosecution lawyer Berg annoys me, the actor is pitching her performance perfectly.
