The character of Bruce Robertson in Irvine Welsh's "Filth" was a direct piss-take of Rebus.

A drug addicted, venereal disease ridden, cross-dressing Hearts fan.

Bruce Robertson (his actual real name) was one of the Rockstars of the L&B Drug Squad in the 80’s. He was also a friend of Ian Rankin. I’ve no doubt Welsh and associates came accross Bruce in the 80’s (everybody in the smack trade knew him or knew of him) and Welsh used a name a lot of people would recognise and applied it to a somewhat pathetic character. The real Bruce Robertson was a rugby fan with no interest in football and a throughly dedicated cop who no doubt put a good few  associates of Welsh where the belonged. Bruce is quite old now and may in fact be gone (I lost contact with him many years ago, but he was very proud of his inclusion in ‘Filth’

The Vendetta of An(Netflix). 28 episodes of this historical drama. A political revenge plot with great performances from some seasoned actors and talented younger ones.  An intricate plot, plenty bloodshed, expensive sets and good subtitles.

Addictive.

First couple of seasons, maybe. After that it gets really shit. Just my opinion of course.

Peaky Blinders is absolutely brilliant. I wish all television was as good as Peaky Blinders, the writing is impeccable (Steven Knight wrote it he's been nominated for a few Oscars for Best Screenplay) and the acting couldn't be better

I enjoyed The Seven Dials Mystery on Netflix too.

Gentle easy watching based on Agatha Christie novel of same name.

Just 3 episodes.

Watched this yesterday. The way it finished, i sensed there was more to come in the form of a series.

Started The Sopranos again yesterday as couldn't find anything I fancied. Probably my favourite ever series along with Gomorrah.

Both good will probably revisit Sopranos for a 3rd time at some point!!

Try Animal Kingdom - not mafia but a criminal family in California and spans 1970s to present day over about 7 seasons

I’ve watched it 3 times . My all time favourite . It’s just perfection . I loved Livia . It’s such a shame Nancy Marchand passed away as her relationship with Tony was pivotal to the story a la Roman  tragedy really . No wonder David Chase called her Livia .

A complete psychopath really . There’s a theory she was jealous of Tony being the head of the “ family “ and resented being held back due to her sex .  She was hysterically funny at times too

I was saying The Night Manager Series 2 was pretty rubbish without Hugh Lawrie...

But my recommendation is to watch series 1 again which is available on BBC Iplayer and not bother with series 2 which is pretty rubbish.

The current season is awful. I cant understand how a series can deteriorate so much

Season 1 grabbed me right away, other seasons a bit heavier but still good.

No matter what you think of the series, it's worth tuning in for Camila Morone (Roxana) alone. 😍😍

Anyone looking to improve their diet and health could watch 'What Not To Eat' series on Channel 4.

The focus is on reducing UPF- ultra processed foods and improving health.

Presenters Dr Tim Spector ( ZOE app) and Dr Kandi meet up with familes and couples and support them to reduce UPF in their diets for more fruit, veg, protein, etc.

Everyone who took part seemed to make fairly impressive changes to their weight, waist size, inflammation markers, etc over just 4-6 weeks.

Wow that’s an outstanding cast ! I listened to Guinness audiobook on YouTube and it’s so entertaining . Well worth a listen . One of the great actors who made a savvy move whilst making “ Star Wars “ and  its sequels Instead of a flat salary he agreed to take a percentage of the films gross royalties

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

I've watched the first two episodes. Not too bad but a few very unnecessary scenes, one in the first five minutes. Short episodes as well, just over 30 minutes each. Will see how it continues

I laughed at that one, but that's my schoolboy toilet humour coming to the fore.

Steal on Prime, with Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark in GoT) as a trade processor at a Fund Manager in London that is the target of an armed heist.

I've only watched the first 3 episodes so far, and it does stretch the believability at times, but Turner is good in it and it's an entertaining watch so far. It could well jump the shark in the last 3 episodes but worth a viewing at the moment.

Yeah. It would be annoying. I watched the first 5 episodes of season 2 on the weekend. Last one is up on Sunday next. Obviously we are a few weeks ahead of you then.

Enjoyable sci-fi/crime drama. The acting isn't the best and the story gets quite convoluted but decent nonetheless.

His & Hers on Netflix. Tense murder mystery set in rural Georgia (the American one). Good cast and a storyline full of twists and turns up to the very end. A tight 6 episodes long which is nice as Netflix normally overstretches things for no good reason.

4 episodes in and not a fan. Think it's because I've read the book. Quite different to the book with characters and storylines not in the book being in the show.

Still great tv but the level of contestant sharply nose-dives each year. How any can be given investment is baffling.

Yes, seems quite a low standard so far but just first episode. None stand out.

Always enjoy the boardroom part.

20 years of this programme- very different world now!
