Just finished watching riot women on BBC. I wasn't sure if I fancied it or not, and only agreed to watch it so the wife wouldn't complain (as much) the next time hearysvare on a Saturday night tea time.

However, I'm glad I watched it. Thought it was brilliant. Thoroughly recommended from me.

Kingdom, the new Attenborough series on the BBC about 4 families of different animals in a small area, leopards, lions, hyenas, and hunting dogs. Best watched on iPlayer as it’s UHD.

Every series he does I fear it’s his last.

If anyone can be described as a broadcasting national treasure. Then it's Sir David Attenborough.

On the last episode of All Her Fault. Been a decent watch.

Probably a bit heavy on the twists and turns, verging on too many. Still enjoyable nonetheless.

The Iris Affair on Sky Atlantic. One of those series where they came up with a decent outline for a story, but never really knew where to go with it or how to flesh it out to a full story that made sense, almost like they were making it up as they go along. Tom Hollander is great in it though, and Niamh Algar does a good job as the main character too.

6/10 just due to the main actors and because they more or less finished the story

“ The Black Forest murders “

It’s on bbc iplayer . 4 part . It’s based on true murders . Very decent . Shows the hard police work which went into capturing the killer. Well acted

Started watching The Witcher. I'm quite enjoying it but wtf is going on? The time line seems to be all over the shop.

It is, and hugely confusing at first. It does start to make sense at the end of the first season...but then they introduce more confusing elements, so it's one that you need to pay attention to 😆

It's worth watching for Yennifer at least

First half of The Witcher Season One is short stories from the books, and pretty faithful to the source material.

Then after that it's a mish-mash of out-of-sequence events supposed to give you characterisation of all the major players and their motivations.

It does all come together at the end of the season.

After that, the showrunners took a WHOLE LOT of drugs and went totally off-script and it stops making any kind of sense.

I stopped watching after a seriously poor Season Two.

Henry Cavill, being the massive sci-fi-/fantasy geek that he is eventually had enough of them wrecking the source material and left at the end of Season Three and by all accounts Season Four is utter pish too.

Glad I stopped when I did.

Buy the books and the games, they're much better.

Watched the first couple of episodes of Mobland last night, not bad at all but very Guy Ritchie in the style and characters.

Binged the rest today.

Spoiler

Generally good but went from a tense London gangland thriller with politics of gangs to full on over the top Hollywood in the last few episodes. Yeah, let’s blow loads of shit up and no retribution or investigation from the police?

Just finished season 1 of Mr. Mercedes on Netflix. My kind of show

Posted

just remembered about very good series i couldn't stop watching a while ago -the 4400. it is about people that vanished at some points of the lives and then came back with super powers

Started watching All Her Fault, too OTT and melodramatic, with obvious red herrings, to be good TV...but still watching as want to find out who did it. Sure it'll be disappointing when I find out too

Fantastic show, although season 2 is a bit of a disappointment for me, all got a bit silly really. Still looking forward to watching season 3 though

Watching a Korean series called Taxi Driver  at the moment and really enjoying it.

Black Rabbit really good Netflix series starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law

8.5/10

Just finished the second series of Squid Game Reality. Both series are brilliant viewing, watching how desperate some people will become and the lengths they will go to for money.

The 2nd series of a few things I've watched have been a bit disappointing, they seem to be more interested in setting up series 3 than what's actually going on in series 2🤷

Probably some truth in that. Still looking forward to getting stuck in to the 3rd mind, 2 hasn’t put me off

All Her Fault was a decent watch. Very glossy with a good cast.

A nice amount of suspense and strings which keeps you wondering through each episode.

If you liked the Spanish show Money Heist on Netflix, you might like Billionaire's Bunker* on Netflix too. It's by the same makers of Money Heist and it shows, very similar show, although not as good. The first series of Money Heist in particular was very enjoyable.

I'm only a couple of episodes in, and there's a lot of typical Spanish melodrama between families and partners, but it's decent enough so far.

*No idea why that's the English name on Netflix, the Spanish name El refugio atómico translates, easily even with my non existent knowledge of Spanish, to The Atomic Shelter. Still not a great name, but slightly better than what they've gone with!

Only 3 seasons. Starting season 3 tonight. I really like it, but I do like Brendan Gleeson.

All 3 seasons of Future Man are now on Netflix. I never actually watched past the first season when it originally came out, but if you're into sci-fi and maybe video games, plus juvenile jokes, it was a hell of a lot of fun.

I'm sure I watched the first series of that and enjoyed it, was ages ago though and no idea if I watched the other two...... Or what happened in the first!!! Too long between series these days, just had to rewatch the last stranger things in advance of next week's finale.

Mobland.

Guy Ritchie and Tom Hardy produced show about an Oirish gangster family.

Really good and comically bad at the same time.  Strange, strange show.

Some of the worst casting you are likely to see with Brosnan and Mirren acting like they are in a BBC sitcom.  Their Irish accents are awful.

Huge plot holes all through it.  Also huge random exposition dumps and some terrible writing.  It's like it was made by multiple writers and production companies than never knew what the other ones were doing, or an AI was fed all Guy Ritchie's stuff and told to write a TV show.

Still enjoyed it though for Hardy and his main storyline as a gangster fixer.

I wrote about it further up the thread. It’s almost like they changed their mind about what it should be as the filming went on, started off as a normal but stylish London gangster drama and became ridiculously over the top as it went on. And Brosnan somehow, as an Irishman, always does bad Irish accents. And the grandson being drowned at birth would have improved the whole thing, one of the most annoying characters I can remember in any series.

“ Pluribus”

just started on this . Created by Vince Gilligan. ( breaking bad) so it’s already got great credentials. It’s sci fi post apocalyptic series with the main character ( well her and a few others ) immune to a virus which makes everyone think the same  ! As one person . The first episode was great and quite black humour too , be interesting to see how it pans out .

Watching Stranger Things with my daughter as a lot of her class are excited for the new season. She hasnt seen any of it but we have jus finished S1. I forgot what a great watch the first series was.

Started S2 and it is all she is wanting to watch just now.

Posted

On the last episode of Landman S1 on Paramount+.  The relationship he has with his daughter and ex wife is worth watching for that alone.
