Luckiest days play.

sat down with my last $7.50 on pokerstars at $0.10/$0.25 today, and managed to get up to $119.

Ive never hit as many hands in my life. Everytime I had a draw I hit it. I flopped a straight flush and had two guys betting into me. I also hit quads twice and both times the other guy had a good hand.

And the biggest surprise of all is I was never on the wrong end of a cold deck situation, infact the only dodgy moment was when I got KK I made a 5 times BB raise($1.25), I was then re-raised to $3. It was the first time I had seen him re-raise preflop so was sure he had "it". I had ?90 at time so decided to see the flop....and one other player who only had $8 called aswell....flop came 338...the guy pushed all in straight away for $40+. I ended up folding not wanting to ruin my hard work by sticking in over $40 on kings. He did infact have AA, however he lost to the guy who had called pre flop with 34:clown::clown:

Biggest problem I seem to have is learning to value bet the river. And also knowing the best amount to bet into a pot to get called at the end. No matter what I bet here I always feel Ive done it wrong, If I get called I question if i could have made it more, and when they fold I question if I made it too much.(though I know alot of time they will be folding due to missed draws etc) Any one got any insights on this they could share?

Nope, I'm in the same boat as you..

HAd the worst 2 days ever... spunked about $700 up against the wall (lucky its all winnings) Had AA vs AQ and lost. KK against AA 3 times and have been rivered like no one else ever had before.. I think I played 6 tables for and hour without winning a single pot... Jeeze louise.

So tilted like crazy and sent good after bad.. Still got a good few hundred in account but hell... What can you do?

I take it you can only qualify for these events by playing online? I see its full, but say for example the one that was in Edinburgh, could you just pay and buy-in directly to these?

No, only satellite qualifyers can play in the "Main Event". I went along to Edinburgh and played a couple of side games, there's nothing stopping anyone doing that.

The grand final in Nottingham is a ?220 buyin, I'm not sure but I think they are allowing direct buyins to this, you can also satellite online for either ?2.65 or ?22.

I'm currently in a Full Tilt Poker play money 250 game. If you haven't tried it, it's so strange/funny/amazing. It's basically an all-in-fest, it's so bad if you're new to the game though, this isn't the way to play a normal game!

I'm currently 7th out of 780, I go all in whenever I have a hand really and I get called by some weird cards.

You also get 50 chips whenever you knock someone out, I've broke even so far, 174 get paid so I'm looking to get into the play money :clown:

EDIT: As we speak, I've just gone chip leader, won a monster 3 way pot against someone with 5K in chips, I had 10K at the time, up to 16K now.

This is good for a laugh. :clown:

In Absentia

I am down in Newcastle tomorrow for the Sky Poker Tour too. Looking forward to it.

Good chance I will go down to Nottingham for the Grand Final. If I can keep improving my bankroll. You can buy in directly. Sats are on Sunday and I cant really play then.

Had a good week playing poker online, I don't see myself as a online player but have seemed to of cracked it now.

Won $628 dollars this week playing the $11 and $4.40 180 player SnGs on Pokerstars.

Kind of burned out now that I been playing all day all week.

Must be something in the air for us KB'ers running bad at the moment.

Had 88 3 times tonight, and every time I flopped a set!!! Didn't win any of the hands though ffs. Lost to a straight twice and then a full house, it came AK8 and the guy had K8, was all in against him on flop for K to drop on turn.

AA cracked by Q9 flopping straight, QQ cracked by AT.

Miracle I'm not down more to be honest. Almost broken even tonight.

S.P.U.K.T, Newcastle - My Story

We left my house at about 10 in the morning. We stopped for 5-10 minutes along the A1 and continued on our journey to Newcastle. We followed the directions on a piece of paper printed from the internet. We passed St James' Park, huge stadium. It was around 1hr and 10 minutes before registrations were due to close so we thought we'd be fine...

We missed the left turn after St James' Park, it came too quick for us (or me) to read so we were still looking for this junction (which we had actually passed). We ended up driving over a bridge and ended up in Gateshead so we had to turn around and head back to Newcastle. We found the junction we had originally missed and turned right into the street.

We are heading along this street where the instructions were telling us to turn left, but there was roadworks and cars couldn't turn left, so we turned right and I looked left and there was the Aspers. We tried to go round the long way so we headed out of that street, got to the bottom of the road and realised we couldn't turn right there, so left it was, we went right round and found ourselves back in this one way street.

We decide to go round the other way by turning left at the bottom of the second street, we go round turning into a street, we look over the road and there's that one way street, we're just at the other side and can't turn right up to the Aspers from there either.

We decide to go for it one more time, we go round and yet again we are in the street opposite to the one way street, or so I thought...

I get out, there is now only 15 minutes before registration was due to close, I turn right expecting to see the Aspers and it wasn't there, we were in a completely different street. My dad has driven away looking for somewhere to park and I'm lost in the middle of Newcastle not having a clue where I'm going. I decide to ask someone, I ask; "excuse me, do you know where the Aspers Casino is?", I get a reply "oh I'm not too sure, (in the Newcastle accent) I know there is a casino up that way, if you turn left up there and it should be up that road there, alreet". I head up that way, look at the casino and it's the wrong one, they've sent me to the Grosenoir (or something similar). I walk back down to roughly where I was and ask someone else, they point me in the same direction but tell me to go a different way, I go to see if it is actually there and I've just missed it, but no, it's the Grosenoir again. I then ask this guy that was standing outside a pub smoking, he points me in the same direction, I know by this time he's wrong but you can't exactly ask someone directions, they say one way and you walk the other, so I head back to the Grosenoir, I ask someone on the way; "excuse me, do you know where the Aspers casino is please?", he said in an Irish accent "I'm from Ireland" so I go to appologise for bothering him but as he said "I'm from Ireland" I say "I'm sorry about that", it came out completely the wrong way, I meant I'm sorry for bothering him not sorry he was from Ireland! I power-walked away hoping I'm not going to have a drunking Irishman on my tail, I never, so I stopped to ask a 5th person, he pointed the other way, I thought we're finally getting somewhere, he said "I think there's a casino at the other side of the station" I said thanks and started walking, it's now half past one, registrations were due to close now. I started walking and realised we didn't drive past the station so it couldn't possibly be there, so I see a group of 3 bus drivers, I ask them where the Aspers casino is, they point me in the right direction, they say; "it's ope (up) that street there", they said something about a burger king being on the left and I've to go past either 2 or 3 sets of traffic lights, they said keep walking and it'd be on your left hand side, so I walk over the road, look up the middle street and there's a burger king, I walk for a minute and see THE ONE WAY STREET!!! I've never been so delighted in my life!! I turn left and there's the Aspers, I go in and where's the casino? The place is full of bars, cafe's, cinima's I look around and I see the sign, it's up stairs, I go up and see my dad walking in 2 minutes before me! The person at the desk at the front said I have to register with the casino before i get in, the 2 on front of me took 5 minutes, I took about 3.

I get in, look for the poker rooms, it's right at the back, I go to the table and say my name, they give me my name badge. I go to the bar, order me and my dad a drink and then we are called to the tables to start play. I was only about 10 minutes off missing the start of the tourney.

Now to the poker, I folded for the first couple of rounds, I pick up AK and raise 3x the blind, everyone folds because it's the first action I've had, I thought great, that's exactly the table image I want. Twice after that I made good plays, I was in the BB, The board came 5J5, check check, a 3rd heart came down, the K. I bet 300 into a pot of about 4 or 5. he calls, the last card is a blank, I bet 800 and he folds showing a K. I had a 9 high. The second "play" I made was in the BB, one caller, flop came, check check, turn came, I check he bets 1000, I look at him and think he has **** all, I re-raise all in with my Ace high and he folds. I, of course don't show.

My first big hand I lost was 35 on the button, there was a few callers that round so I had value to call, the board came AA2. It's checked round to me, I bet 2 or 300, 1 caller, this boy was playing very sound poker, not getting involved too early but he was a player I had identified of being able to push off a big pot. The turn was a 10, I bet 500. He called. The river a 4, I have the straight, I'm thinking he must have an Ace, so I bet 1100, hoping I don't get re-raised too much because there is a paired board and was aware of there being a possible full house. He flat calls, I turn over a straight, he turns pocket 2's, a full house. I'm down to about 3000 chips after that, we started with 5000.

I lost another sort of big hand, I had built my way up a bit again, and raised with 99. A small stack went all in for another 1500 or something, I called, he had AK and hit a K.

Now onto the sick beats, however, it was actually me who dealt them out...

I was short stacked in relation to the blinds, less than 10 so I push under the gun with QJ, I get one caller, he turns AK, the flop a Q!!! I win this hand.

Another hand I have I push with AQ and get called with AK, The board is 4J8, turn a 4, river an 8 for a split pot!!!

Now my biggest one, this was called out over the loud speaker just before the second break, about 4 hours into the tourney, I was again short stacked and pushed in with TT, I got one caller, then that 22 boy re-pushed all in and the caller called him as well. Cards were turned, 22 boy had JJ and the big guy who had actually just moved to my table had AK, flop and Ace, turn a blank. I was all packed up ready to go, my card cover in my pocket, off my seat ready to go and then the river, a TEN!!! AK guy was spewing, he won the side pot but I tripled up to 15,000 just before the break :biglaugh:

After the break I picked up JJ on the first hand in the BB, UTG raises all in then a new player who had just been moved to my table re-raised all in, I think about it for 20/30 seconds and fold. They turn, AQ v AK. AK high won the pot, I'd have been on about 40,000 chips but I feel it was the correct decision to fold JJ for all of my chips when there has been an all-in UTG and a re-raise all in.

Later I get moved to another table, I fold for the first coupe, of rounds, the blinds at this point are 800/1600 with a 200 ante, there is 4400 in the pot pre-flop. I'm under the gun with KQ of spades, I push my 14,000 in, at that point, I was about average chip stack in the tourney but in relation to the blinds I WAS short stacked with about 12-14K. I get one caller, the same guy I hit the 2 pair to split the pot, he thought about it for a while and called with his AQ, AJ he could have folded but AQ is too big. The flop is QJ8, it would have all gone in there anyway unless I had folded pre-flop. The turn is a 9, that gives me more outs, I can hit a 10 now for the straight or the K for 2 pairs, 7 outs, 15%. I miss. I went out in about 36-38th, 20 got paid out of 130, but I wanted top 10 so I had to go for it, I thought to myself during the second break, I am so lucky to still be in the tourney, I have to go for it, I have nothing to lose, I shouldn't even be here still but with the luck of the cards I am.

I was very happy with the way I played, I stuck to my plan of playing when it is right to and pushing when I have less than 10 BB.

It was a great experience if nothing else, I had fun and enjoyed the day.

Good fold. Doesn't really matter what cards come out it was the right decision in my opinion.

How did your Dad get on? or was he the designated driver?:biglaugh:

He drove home again, he didn't play in the main event but was in a side game later on, I think he lost. He finished up ?10 on roulette and Blackjack though.

I know the top 20 got tickets to the main event, but how did they split the ?5k, how much did 1st get?

I presume this sit and go tonight isn't happening?

Ive managed to turn that $8.25 we exchanged into $140:sunny: Should be more aswell but seem to struggle to convert getting into the money into getting to the final tables in tournies.

I could probably still set it up if there was interest.

Will give it a 5.30pm deadline for interest in it before deciding whether its worthwhile this week.

1- The top 10 got tickets to Nottingham, 11th-20th at Edinburgh got ?50 each, I'd have expected it to be the same at newcastle, I'm not sure what the prize money was after that, it will probally be on "In Poker" on SkyPoker this Thursday, they said that was when this leg was being aired so it's probally going to be on that.

2- Tonights game; I don't know, if nothing is set up and confirmed by about 5.30 tonight I'll see about getting something sorted.

3- Well done on that, I should have asked for a cut, oh well...:biglaugh:

I got into a $109 tourney for $4, $1M gtd!!! Probally about $200,000 to the winner.

Ive been playing quite a few sateliettes, trying to get into the bigger tournies but with no luck so far. Been doing quite well on the sit and go's which is paying for these unsuccsessful sat's..lol Would probably quite alot further up if i had just stuck to the sit and go's but it gets boring for me after a while, tournaments are just alot more exciting for me.

I'm the same, if I was to play all single table sit and go's, I'd cash in the majority, but they are very boring. They have a very slow start, then when the blinds get bigger it's all over, no excitment, multi-table tourney's are much better because you get a range of different strategies players are using, a lot more money involved, as the blinds go up, everything sort of snow-balls -chip stacks get bigger, decisions become more important and it's a lot more fun, it's disappointing when you go out because you've played for 2-4 hours so you want to win as much as possible for the time you've been playing.

I'm still up for playing tonight...

I've set it up.

8.05pm start, ?5 + 50p.

My username is PeteGriff and the tourney can be found by going into multi tourneys then private.

The password for it is HFC1902.

Can everyone who wants to play say ASAP so we can see if we're going to have enough numbers for it to be worth starting it. Don't want to register and it be 3 way action or whatever.

Cheers.

Yes, it's on pokerstars, it's not until the middle of April though, a 2-day event. It's the Main Event (L) of the S.C.O.O.P.

I went through the $1.01+$0.10 r 2x turbo, that's probally the best one to go for IMO, there's about 5 or 6 of them a day.

There isn't any satellites less than $20 for the M and H buyins, I don't know if they are planning to have any or not.
