What are Queens Park like at that level ?

They have a decent side and play in the lower divisions' SPFL reserve/youth league (U19)

They beat Forfar, ICT and QOTS in previous rounds

Thanks for that.

Nelson Mandela has been dominating the media over here and I feared this important news might be lost in the process.

St Johnstone beat them 3-1 in the last round

Was that the best Celtic youths like Liam Henderson or do they use them in that Euro League?

20s 1-0 down after 40mins

Need to take our chances. Keeper has

made three good saves from Oliver Carrick and B King.

Cole again playing as a trialist for us while Chris Hogg is doing likewise for Thistle.

Carrick, Nicholson and Oliver x2 with the goals apparently

Why doesn't Oliver get a sub's role (I mean on the pitch not on his bahoochie) when we're looking for goals?

Been thinking that too. Remember him being very good at raith in the cup. Works very hard and is a goal threat, why not give him a shot

Interesting to see tonight's Hearts team as Partick are flying high this season and near the top of the u20 league.

Inverness were top before we beat them a couple weeks ago, seem to be doing great under Robbie Neilson

4 wins in a row for him (though results are not as important in youth football.) If you take our last 3 league games (not counting the cup match as its not a good indicator) we have scored an average of 3.66 goals a game, and conceeded 1.33 goals a game.

Decent! Anyone watched neilson up at riccarton? Or how is he at u20 matches as a coach?

Also hearts youth twitter says carrick scored 2 not Buchanan with the 5th

It was an excellent performance bar a 15 minute period just before the break. Played with great pace and link up play. Hearts are certainly playing with a bit more forward thinking under Robbie Neilson, although the basic passing skills developed under Darrren Murray are still there.

Their keeper made three outstanding saves in the first half, first from a Gary Oliver header after just two minutes, then Hearts were denied a stonewall penalty when Dale Carrick was brought down, before the keeper brought off the save of the night, clawing away a Carrick strike from the top corner. Billy King then had a fierce shot palmed away, before Thistle hit us with a sucker punch. A long crossfield pass from Chris Hogg found James Martin wide on the left. He cut the ball inside onto his right foot and curled a fine shot into the far corner.

The second half was one way traffic. First Carrick scored with a quick spin and shot just out of the reach of the keeper to put Hearts level. Sam Nicholson scored the second with a close in header after coming in late at the back post to meet an Angus Beith corner. The third was similar to the first with a quick turn and shot this time from Gary Oliver. Gary also got Hearts fourth with a sweet first time effort, sweeping the ball into the top left corner from 16 yards. Dale Carrick rounded things off after a quick break from Hearts saw him drill home a low shot from 12 yards.

Jack Hamilton didn't have a save to make of any note throughout the game. Good performances from Cole and Gordon at the back, while Carrick and my MOTM Gary Oliver up front didn't give the Thistle defence a moment's peace all night.

When you consider the number of players already drafted into the 1st team they are doing incredibly well.

Didn't they also beat St J just after they had knocked Celtic out of the Cup.

Well done indeed.

Nothing to lose in the league now so get the best of them promoted.
