gjcc Posted November 5 Posted November 5 They are awfully high and mighty for a team that’s lost £11m over 2 years. Just as well their owners are benevolent enough to cover it for now.
Horatio Caine Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I'm just relieved to have someone properly qualified to explain the accounts to me. Where would we be without our esteemed neighbours?

Zerothehero Posted November 6 Posted November 6 They really aren't taking this season very well are they? I think they genuinely got it in their heads last season that they'd somehow permanently shifted the balance between Hearts and Hibs. I don't think I've ever seen them quite so rattled.

Brick Tamland Posted November 6 Posted November 6 5 hours ago, iantjambo said: **** it. Let’s take out set-pieces as well. Yes we should also take out saves from the goalie because if he wasn't there the other teams would have scored, it's not fair that we have a goalie who can make saves with his hands, it's borderline cheating. Take them out and see where we are.

Wonder how long they can keep spinning that one. We could be 20 points clear in March and you’d get someone saying “aye but mind Aberdeen last year” The Aberdeen thing was a total freak scenario as well. Teams do not go from taking 31/33 points from the first round to a 14 game winless run & only taking 22/81 of the remaining points available on a regular basis. Even if we look at our own "wheels fall off" season in 18/19 it wasn't QUITE that extreme a swing.
Lord Beni of Gorgie Posted November 6 Posted November 6 What I like most about the internet is people convincing themselves they are experts, then look at the calibre of individual they are criticising. Never ceases to amaze, not exclusive of course to our chums Eastside.
Philfigo Posted November 6 Posted November 6 The comedy will really start when the Hibs accounts are out! It will be a massive seven figures minus at the end lol. Surely the can make it -£20m over 3 years that looks a good number for them to hit.

They really believed that that group stage European football was a cert. I'm going for 8 million pound deficit.

Particularly interesting were the trend line graphs for the first 11 games, which showed Aberdeen's xG trending downwards and xG conceded trending upwards to the point they were almost converging. Whereas ours are trending in the opposite direction and the gap between xG and xG conceded is widening.
Halliphax Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) Perhaps this isn’t the thread to post this but doing it anyway (mods can delete if it’s not relevant). We make a lot of jestful jibes back and forth but I thought it was worth calling out this gent (or madam) who seems to “get it”. Nice reminder that, ultimately, some things transcend football. So, Bravo. Edited November 7 by Halliphax

It was a good piece, and it all but put to bed the argument that we are just a carbon copy of aberdeen from last year. Now, obviously there is no guarantee that the trendlines will continue moving in the direction that they currently are, but it does show that whilst we may have similar a points tally, the overall performance metrics are not at all similar, and neither are the situations: The fact that McInnes knows the league arguably better than any manager, whilst last year was Thelin's first season. Not to mention, we have a much larger squad - many of whom were identified by JTA, and the fact the OF are much weaker than normal; the comparison is just lazy, at this point. We may well fall off a bit, it's almost inevitable, maintaining our current form would have us romp the league in most seasons, but there is 0 chance we capitulate the way aberdeen did.
gjcc Posted November 7 Posted November 7 There are still a thicko elements staring that Bowie’s goal against Livi was inside because the “lines aren’t parallel to the 18 yard line” ok, let’s humour them. now let’s move the line parallel “LiKe iT sHoUlD bE!” Closer to the goal line to highlight how ridiculous their notion of perspective is… So the real question should be… why is Livi’s pitch not a rectangle? The 18 yard box is longer on the far side, despite things further away are meant to appear smaller. It simply can’t be rectangular based on this highly scientific reasoning. Unless, I guess, the thickos just can’t fathom basic geometry and the VAR lines are correct?
HeartsandonlyHearts Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Let’s agree with them. He’s onside. They got cheated. Who gives a ****. You’re #!bs.

Bridge of Djoum Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) "feel that a lot of data/metrics/analytics are over-complicated and over-rated. Personally, I'd be looking at a very small number of things: Games played -- this indicates, in my opinion, the confidence a club and manager has in a player. Injury rate -- The aim is to avoid signing players who are always injured. Eye test. (Quick/instant ball-control, balance, body positioning, movement/availability for a pass, awareness, a "look of strength") Conversely, indicators such as weight room strength/lifting numbers and sprint speeds would not be high on my agenda. They don't, in my opinion, translate to on-field performance on match days. Controversially, I also feel height is an over-rated metric. If you are tall, but are very technically limited, you will still find yourself in bother and under pressure on the pitch. Just my opinion. I am hopeful for big changes to Rangers' recruitment, as soon as possible." Quote from swallow swallow. This boy has cracked the code! Edited November 7 by Bridge of Djoum
