Always thought this song was about getting a new burd, but it turns out that it was written about the new sound , the punk scene and vib that was emerging. The Damned were the first punk band of the 1970s to release the first punk single, before the SEx Pistols..

Way ahead of his time,

Behave. Ahead of his time in what way? Convincing people that bad 6th form poetry was art? And certainly not the “first punk” he was doing his blues based hippy rock at the same time The Velvet Underground were changing music in NYC.

The Velvet Underground certainly changed music but not until later.  Their debut sold 30,000 copies at the time.

I am a big fan of both bands, and The Doors were a lot more than just Jim Morrison.  Jim Morrison certainly was a forerunner in rebellious rock frontmen, who didn't let others censor his art.

They might have been one of the earliest keyboard dominated bands, Doors had F/all to do with punk though.
