Gizmo Posted April 24, 2013 Share Posted April 24, 2013 Incredible. While the god awful photographer and make up have something to do with it, there are some absolute howlers in there. How some of the much nice ones from the original list didn't make it is fairly dubious. That's the first thing I thought. The terrible glaring lighting, the orange makeup, the ridiculous over-use of mascara to make those weird starry eyelashes and then the moronic photographer who has used a shallow depth-of-field in an attempt to make their eyes pop, but has stuffed it up leaving only those weird eyelashes to dominate the shots, making hair look unnatural as it goes from sharp to blurred without any gradation. The poor lighting makes their noses and chins all look odd whilst adding nice blown-highlights on their cheeks and forheads, whilst making the skin look shiny and plastic. These competitions are ridiculous anyway but they're confusing beauty with being really good (ahem) at giving yourself a voluminous doo (extensions essential) and slathering on a lot of fake tan and cosmetics. Some of them just look utterly ridiculous but that 'look' is nothing you can't find on George Street or any other city on a Saturday night. Strip it back I say.
