Malofeev Shield competition

The Malofeev Shield competition counts Bronze predictions in the last nine rounds of the competition. The player with the highest score (who doesn’t win in the Bronze event) from 22-23 March until the end of the season wins the Malofeev Shield event.

And I can tell you that following two very solid performances in the last two rounds of the competition, the Malofeev Shield winner is:

Gold competition

Two players were tied for top points in the Gold event. Both chizzy and Ulysses scored 112 points.

So these are the players who will win first and second prizes in the Gold competition, depending on their scores in the maroon games tiebreak - the games involving Hearts.

In maroon games, chizzy scored 13 points, and Ulysses scored 15. So chizzy is the runner up, while the winner of the Gold competition, by a very narrow margin, is:

Ulysses

Awww... I lost the Malofeev shield at the last, by a single point... congrats to Le Chat though.

Small consolation that I just managed to reach 100 points in both other comps.

Thanks for running these again, Uly - and enjoy your winnings!

Thanks for all your efforts in running this competition again Uly and crongratulations on winning.

Hard luck chizzy.

By my calculations...if you take the amount Uly won and divide it by the amount of time he must spend doing this...that must equate to something like thruppence per hour :D

Thanks for doing it.

The final curtain

Congratulations to, er, me on winning the Gold competition, and the prize of ?200 that goes with it.

Well done to chizzy for his runner up spot in the Gold event, and the prize of ?65.

Congratulations also to chizzy for winning the Bronze competition, and a prize of a ?40 voucher for the Hearts store.

And well played Le Chat, winner of the Malofeev Shield and a ?25 voucher for the Hearts store.

Thanks to everyone who took part. I hope you enjoyed predicting as much as I enjoyed organising the competition.

There were almost 2,300 forecasts submitted for the competition, so it would simply have been impossible to run the event without the help of the Predictor massive. So a big thanks to:

Deek

Eastender

Paul_C

portobellojambo1

yvonnejambo

Your efforts are much appreciated.

All going well there will be another Predictor in the autumn, but there's the small matter of Euro 2008 to get out of the way first.

Thanks for running these again, Uly - and enjoy your winnings!

Cheers. By my reckoning this is the 16th Predictor I've organised (including international competitions), so I'm kinda pleased with myself to have won something after all this time. But TBH I feel a bit sheepish about the prize money, so I've decided to spread it around a bit. I had sponsored the Bronze competition prizes at ?65, but I'm going to treat myself and let some of the prize money do that. I'm also going to divert ?60 to sponsor a prize in the Euro 2008 Predictor. That should leave ?75, and I'm going to pass that on to the McCrae's Battalion Trust.

The Trust is a charitable body, and needs money to fund its own plans for education and for the Contalmaison project. Yet the Trust (in particular Jack Alexander) has put a massive amount of time and effort in the last few weeks into raising money for another worthwhile charitable cause. So I think the Trust really deserves respect for that, and as they say every little helps.

And now I think it's time this thread was unstickied.

And perhaps, after this post it could get one more reply then be locked to leave the number of posts at that number that gives many of us that warm fuzzy feeling. :)
