Ulysses
Did payment method details for the gold comp go up Uly? I missed the post if they did. Not yet. 54 players have signed up (mussy mike has dropped out, but interista has joined). I will send them payment details by PM shortly. Just a reminder to everyone: The Bronze event is free, and there will be a small prize. The Gold event is a fiver to play, and all the money goes back into the prize fund. That's looking like ?270 right now. And I'll post a fresh update about rules and all that in a while. For those who aren't familiar with the Predictor, the object is to forecast the results of six SPL games each weekend as accurately as possible. You get a point for a correct overall result, or 3 points if you land the exact scoreline, and whoever ends the season on the highest number of points wins. Ulysses
Bronze competition With one day to go before the first fixture coupon is posted, 121 players have signed up for the Bronze competition. There is no entry deadline for this competition. If you want to join in, all you have to do is say so on this thread and then you can post a forecast. But since it is a points race to the end of the season, the sooner you start the better your chances of winning will be. Ulysses
Competition rules will be posted later this evening. One important point. If you're in the Gold event, you are also automatically in the Bronze. You can submit separate forecasts for each, but you should clearly label them so we know which is which. If you only make a single set of predictions, this will be used for both the Gold and Bronze events.

Ulysses
JKB Spring 2008 SPL Predictor Gold and Bronze Competition Rules Because there's money involved, competitors are asked to read these carefully. Gold competition entries and eligibility: The competition is open to all JKB members in good standing. Competitors can submit a maximum of 2 entries. Each entry to the competition costs ?5. Entry fee payment methods will be as stated on this thread. An entry to the competition will only be deemed valid on receipt of the appropriate entry fee. Bronze competition entries and eligibility: The competition is open to all JKB members in good standing. Competitors can submit a maximum of 1 entry. Entry to the competition is free. Members can enter the competition by posting on this thread (or any other thread designated by Ulysses). Gold competition entry deadline: No entry will be accepted after 11 pm UK time on Wednesday, 23 January 2008. It is the responsibility of competitors to ensure that their entry fees arrive in time for that deadline. To enter, competitors need only to submit their entry fees. Competitors are not obliged to submit predictions before the entry deadline – refer to the rule titled Prediction deadlines below. Bronze competition entry deadline: There is no entry deadline for the Bronze competition. Members may enter the competition at any time by saying they wish to do so on the competition thread and by posting their predictions. Gold competition prizes: All entry fees will go into the prize fund. The total prize fund and its distribution will be announced no later than Friday, 25 January 2008. Bronze competition prizes: There will be a small prize fund. The prize fund and its distribution will be announced no later than Friday, 25 January 2008. Participation in both competitions: Players who have entered the Gold competition may also play in the Bronze event. They can submit separate forecasts for both, but the forecasts must be clearly labelled as Gold and Bronze. If a player in the Gold competition submits only one forecast, it will be used for both competitions. Games to be forecasted: This is a prediction competition for SPL games. However, games from the Scottish Cup or the Scottish Football League may be included if this is necessary to ensure there is a full fixture coupon. Each fixture coupon will be for a specified date or dates, and will include a maximum of six games. Prediction deadlines: Each time a fixture coupon is posted, it will state a deadline for submission of all predictions for that coupon. Predictions made after the stated deadline cannot be accepted. It is the sole responsibility of competitors to ensure that their predictions are posted in time. Neither Ulysses nor JKB can accept responsibility for the late posting of any forecast because of error or failure in JKB or the email system. Predictions: Competitors may submit predictions at any time up to the prediction deadline by one of the following four methods: by posting on this thread; by sending a private message to one of the JKB members named for that purpose (directly or by proxy via another JKB member); by sending an email via the email facility on JKB to one of the JKB members named for that purpose (directly or by proxy via another JKB member); by sending an email to [email protected] - which must clearly state the competitor name of the sender. However, players are advised that it is preferable that they post their forecasts on the thread. Except for the final week or two of the competition, there is no tactical advantage to be gained by using PM or email to submit forecasts. Competitors with multiple entries: Competitors may use any names for multiple entries, provided that such names do not clash with other competitors' names and do not breach the rules of JKB. However, each player must have a primary entry under his/her JKB user name. Names for multiple entries must be chosen before 11 pm UK time on Wednesday, 23 January 2008. Where competitors do not choose names for multiple entries, these will be automatically assigned, e.g. Ulysses, Ulysses2. Competitors must ensure that their predictions are clearly associated with a particular entry when submitted. Any prediction that is not clearly associated with a named entry will not be accepted. If a player in the Gold competition with multiple entries does not submit a separate Bronze forecast, then the Gold forecast associated with his/her JKB user name. Scoring and competition format: If a competitor predicts the overall result of a game correctly (e.g. a home win) they will score 1 point. If a competitor predicts the exact scoreline correctly (e.g. Hearts 1-0 Hibs), they will score 3 points. Players can also score bonus points, as set out in the rule titled Platinum games below. The winner(s) will be the competitor(s) with the highest number of points at the end of the competition. Platinum games: Each coupon will include one Platinum game. This game will be worth double points, i.e. 2 points for getting the overall result correct, and 6 points for getting the scoreline exactly right. At the end of each round of fixtures, Ulysses will declare one player to be the SPL Predictor player of the week. This player will have the right to decide which game from the following coupon will be the Platinum game. If this player is not in a position to select the Platinum game, Ulysses will use another method to do so. The maroon games tie-break: If two or more competitors are tied in a prize-winning position on the same number of points, the maroon games tie-break will be used to decide the winner. If competitors are tied on the same number of points, their scores in maroon games (i.e. Hearts games) will be counted and whoever has more points will win the tie-break. If this method fails to produce a winner, the competitors who are tied will share the relevant prize(s). Exclusion from the competition: Any member who enters the competition and who is subsequently banned from JKB will be excluded from the competition. Any member who is suspended from posting on the board may continue to participate in the competition while suspended. Any competitor excluded from the competition under this rule will not be entitled to a refund of their entry fee.
Ulysses
Call for assistance Through the last couple of SPL Predictor competitions, I have been very grateful for the assistance of the Predictor massive. Once again, I'm greatful for the help of Eastender, portobellojambo1 and yvonnejambo in collating the forecasts posted. But this looks like it's going to be the biggest competition yet, with a potential 175 entries each week. So I'm putting out a call for volunteers. If any of you regular competitors are in a position to help us out, please drop me a PM. I know I'll be overwhelmed in the stampede of offers, but I promise not to make the job interview too tough.
