Family, we’ve just had our second kid and a few months ago we sent a message to the whole family stating that we already had everything we needed (from the first one) and that we didn’t want any gifts for the new baby for a variety of reason but mainly that with the extended families on both sides it was just too much stuff that wouldn’t be used and we’d then need to take the time sorting through it all to then bin/take to charity when we’d rather be spending that time with our newborn (whole host of other reasons also given including it just being wasteful, environmental impacts, mental load on both of us etc)

My parents have turned up the last 2 weeks with more gift bags than they can carry from aunts, their pals, neighbours etc and have now taken the hump when I reminded them about our ‘no presents please’ request and they just brushed it off with ‘that’s just how their generation is’ and it’s too hard to tell people no! How on earth do you get to 70+ and not be able to tell people you’ve known for most of that not to do something

You’ve had a baby mate and it’s to be expected tbh as it’s just the done thing for some folk of a certain generation.

Imagine they had turned up with nothing - I can categorically guarantee at one stage in the future one of you would say “they didn’t even get the kid a gift ! and you’d be like “I know we said don’t get anything but you think they would have got a token gift “

Your missus will probably be fine with it and deep down , appreciate the sentiment but as a bloke , I get the annoyance as I suffered from it with both of mine.

Always think it’s better to have folk actually care and take time to go to the effort then not though 👍

honestly it’s Mrs ribble that’s more pissed off than me, she sent the original message talking about the mental strain on her and the environmental impact of buying plastic junk/primark clothings etc (she passed her degree in environmental science a few years ago) so the whole family know it’s an issue important to her. Both our kids are boys and only 3 years apart so we really do have everything we need, we’d clearly said if anyone felt they absolutely HAD to give something then we’d set up bank accounts for the boys or they could donate to charity on the boys behalf.

Questions like this on job applications really ****ing annoy me. It's a 20hr per week job selling ****ing hammers, mate. I'm only looking for pay. Why the **** would anyone have a passion for selling ****ing screwdrivers to tradesmen?

Our business is made up of thousands of individuals, with one thing in common - a passion for Toolstation! It's important to us that everyone joining the business is equally as passionate. Please explain to me what it is about working for Toolstation that excites you and why.

I have absolutely no idea hoe to answe that pish

Let's be honest, like most applicants I'm looking for a job. I could type some waffle about dying to work for Toolstation and about how selling spanners is an ambition I've harboured since i was young but I'm not a liar and never will be.

What i am, though, is hard working, honest, loyal, and friendly. I have years of experience dealing with people in a customer facing roll. I can think on my feet and am happy to help others.

I'm not getting that job then...😂😂😂😂😂😂

They don’t care either. You could put the stuff you mention above and that’d be fine.

They just want some acknowledgement of their question.

Annoying, antisocial and scaffy new neighbours moved in about a month ago. Litter all over the place.  Bin bags flung anywhere but the wheelie bins and awful loud bang bang dance music being played right now. It's like the fair has moved in beside me.

Now they are singing the sash. I thought they smelled like huns.

You can see plain and simple it's AI by the obvious unnatural eye movements and hand gestures yet some people are still taken in and post comments praising the person they think is a real human. They also say" post in the comments where you are watching from" to get more clicks and boost these fake channels even more !

Just been told by HMRC that I shouldn't have been paid the Winter Fuel/Heating Allowance because of my income. When I originally qualified for this I was paid the full amount and when my wife became eligible it was split between us. As my wife's income is no where near the threshold shouldn't she get the full amount instead of half?

Posted

Main Street and Quality Street in D Mains are closed for the next 10 weeks so no through traffic at all and buses all diverted along Queensferry Road. Signs everywhere telling you the road is closed. I’ve just spent 20 minutes at the bus stop that’s still open watching dozens of cars ignore the signs and get to the end of Main Street and have to do a U turn. All the usual suspects that turn it into a rat run every night.

I would think she should get the full amount.

Are they asking for it back?

Sara Cox has been given the radio 2 breakfast show. She was the reason I gave up on the radio 1 breakfast show.

I've quite enjoyed it the last couple of weeks with Gary Davies. Why didn't they just give him the gig?

Listening numbers will start to drop when she takes over.

Probably a bandwidth issue, especially if streaming/watching through a Sky/Virgin set top box. ITV will pay for a certain upload bandwith for ITV 3 and being their 3rd channel will be relatively low which will be fine for the majority of their programming on it but maybe not quite enough when more viewers than normal stick on classic Emmerdale?

Google, specifically the browser.

Any time you search anything now, the sponsored results come up first, even if they are completely unrelated. Want to search for JKB The Terrace? Well here's adverts for Now TV and Sky Cinema first.

Company policy sets it to the default so it's not just as easy as using Brave and DuckDuckGo or an alternative instead!
