Thank you mate, appreciate the sentiments. I'm in Staggs with John, Willie and the rest occasionally for a pint. If you see me pop over and say hello.

Remember Tam well from my time in Musselburgh many years ago - played a bit of youth football with him and met him a few years ago at the Eskmills Bowling Club - hadn't seen him for years but we had a good natter about old times and the Hearts.

Sorry to hear he is no longer with us - a really decent guy.

Ah Staggs now that brings back the memories although I was more of an Auld Hoose man myself but frequented Staggs occasionally and that is where I had my first ever pint.

Tam McGinn mate. Think he stopped about '84.

He must have stopped just before I started with Musselburgh. With other people's comments sorry I missed him.

Spooky mate, what year were you at Craiglockhart?

Played with them at primary and then with Tynie also, followed by spells at Merchie boys, Tynecastle Boys, Hutchi Vale ( booo ) - I was a bit of a mercenary!!

Don't know why it's taken me 4 years to reply to this    anyway... I started Craiglockhart about '88

Edit: I played in the same team as our ex-coach and new 'Beath manager Liam Fox.

Craigmount h.s 91-95 great team back then

boys clubs

Salvy for about 2 games

Broomhall saints haha

Tall oaks  92-95ish

then started looking old enough to get in the Swiss and the football took a back seat.

Anyone else ever attend the Ian St John soccer camp at riccarton? happy days for 2 glorious weeks every summer.

Sherwood Boys Club 84-86 (U12 & U13's). Stopped playing after the coach dropped me in favour of a big fat lad as I had refused to play one weekened when my Grandad died. One of the worst decisions of my young life. Took up playing computer games instead  :rolleyes5: Had the pleasure of receiving my player of the year award for the U12's from Robbo and Gary Mackay.

Captain at Lasswade Primary 84-85. Gary Locke was in the team. He was only in Primary 5 playing against lads in P6 & 7. Unfortunately Lasswade High didn't have a team when I was there due to ongoing PE staff industrial action I think.

Played in the same school team as Gordon Rae (Lasswade) Played for United Crossroads (now defunct I believe but a great club which produced a lot of very good players back then) at the same time. He went to Bonnyrigg Rose, bulked himself up and did all the right things after school. I went to Arniston Rangers and got clobbered off the park for a year before giving it up.

Well if we are going to include Navy teams.

Ships first XI Intrepid, Fife, Andromeda and Brazen. Shore establishments. HMS Mercury in 1983. Played against Alan Ball's Portsmouth in a pre- season game and had Mark Hateley score twice against us when beating us 2-3. Mercury again in 1986.

Aye my memories a bit hazy though a lot of those guys were in the same team though think it was U16's. I came back for a while at the next age group up but not for long.

Brian took me and Craig into a local Stockbridge hotel for our first pints. The guy behind the bar asked our age and we said 15 to which they all burst out laughing. He knew the guy well but had expected us to be clever enough to say older.

I can't remember his name but it might have been the same keeper you've mentioned. If it was he ended up at Newtongrange Star.

Did you ever play in the Milk Cup with St Bernard's?

Could've played in the egg cup....lol, I wouldn't remember my memory's shocking!

Can't remember John's 2nd name but he was a big gentle giant with really short blonde hair. Sure he stayed down at Pilton or Telford area. Forgot about Neil Brien too(sorry Neily).

Not seen Brian snr or Jnr in years, bet he's still got his ponytail too :D

Do you remember Wayne? Black guy, off his head, think he was from Muirhouse, big Jambo too?

Was a few of us from Oxgangs/Colinton Mains in the teams back then.

Can't remember who if anybody coached us could have been the janny but I was the smallest player guess what position I played yes you've guessed correctly Goalkeeper. I must have not been too bad ended up with the nickname Lev after a certain Mr Yashin for you oldies out there.

Shortly after U16's I discovered clubbing so most things are a blur tbh. I said Milk Cup but I might be getting it (name) mixed up. It was held in Paisley I think but if you were there I'm fairly sure you'd remember it  Brian took the whole team there in his tiny white van and we got pulled over. He had to take half the team and come back for the rest :)

Aye there were quite a few lads from those areas. Forgot about Brian's pony!
