Bloke at Fisher's (that used to be next to the Caley Sample Rooms) just gave him it when he bought a new car!

2 days tax and three days MOT iirc and a introduction to home mechanics and bodgeineering!

A friend of mine has just bought one as a project.

My first and current car is a 2006 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa Twinport in 'Pomegranate Red'. My Dad bought it just before my 17th birthday so I could practice along with my driving lessons. I love it.

My first baby was one of these, a '94 M reg in beautiful maroon. 1.4 engine but it actually pulled pretty well, no power steering but once you were moving it didn't need it.

I sold her to a 17 year old who had already written off one car..... I doubt she lasted much longer after that :sob:

Mark II Escort in blue & rust PKS 419S. Being a Ford you could open and start it with a yale key which meant that the windows and locks were undamaged after any attempted thefts. I found that the best deterrent was the car's unroadworthyness.

It was stolen once and dumped about 100 yards from the house - Possibly due to the culprits seeing the football sized hole in the passenger side footwell or if any of them had sat in the rear and noticed that the back seat had fallen through the corroded wheel arch.

A 1988ish gold mini. Had it for a year after my neighbour gave it a re-spray and a tart up. Absolutely fantastic wee car. You could go miles and miles and the guage would'nt even move. And it wasn't just a generic wee run around. You genuinely loved having a mini. My old man's first car was a 1984 red mini and it had a nice smell. I had a similar brown carpet in mine.

I must have looked a right ****** in it though. A 6ft, 17 year old ****er.

But my now wife and I had some happy times in that car. Up the Braid hills. In the observatory car park.

Maybe but mine could do the 180 turn at Primrose Lane at 50, yours would've ended up through the train station

That must have been a standard in the Mk11 as mind had that as well.

The GF at the time called it the Flintstone car.

First car, in 1976, was a Singer Chamois Coupe which was almost a wreck that I bought for ?110. Sounded and looked good. Amazingly managed a few away games while almost breaking down on the outskirts of perth on the way back from a game.

Only lasted a few months before I got more for the seats and wheels than what I paid for it.

Mine was a mk1 escort YNY532H, that was a trade in at Alexanders, it was an 1100cc, I fitted a 1600 and painted it red , it was fast until it reached 70mph. always loved the Mk1,now own a yellow one which cost ?1157 new and is worth many times more than the red one.

First car was a white D plate Astra Le Mans, an utter heap of shite that like others didn't have a working radio in it.

Got a loan for a grand with the view of buying a car but spent ?200 on the car and the rest going to Magaluf with my mates for a fortnight.

Remember the insurance was over ?600 for third party, fire & theft.

It only lasted 3 months then the engine went, got about ?20 back from the scrappy for it. :seething:

I'd forgotten about that security feature on Fords. I had a flatmate with a Capri and we could borrow each others cars without swapping keys. Quite handy when you were low on petrol.

Brilliant in terms of reliability, but brakes that required 30m notice for an emergency stop. 0-60 in approximately 6 minutes.

Same as this but 4 spoke RS2000 wheels. Used to get resprayed every 6 months or so when I got bored of the colour! :ninja:

Ended up with various larger engines in it before it fell apart with rust!

Good times
