Sorry if this isn’t aloud/against board rules and please remove if so. I’m running Scottish half marathon tomorrow, which is my first official run. Up until June this year the furthest I’d ever ran was a 5k but decided to try push myself and have made it up to 10 miles. On Easter Monday I lost my dad to suicide aged 57, it was completely out of the blue and an incredible shock. He was an army veteran, ex prison guard and overall the last person you’d expect. So I am fundraising for Health in mind Scotland, I don’t mean to get the begging bowl out but with mental health the smallest thing can make a difference, who knows it can save someone’s life. I know it’s a hard time so I’m not expecting donations from anyone but if anyone wants to help a fellow jambo out you can do so at the link. With things like this though just spreading the word is powerful. Depression is real, mental health is important and suicide does happen ( far too frequently) Thank you 🇱🇻

All the best, AC.

Can I ask what he does to help reduce the fluctuations? And what sort of symptoms you might notice in him at times? Feel free to not answer of course.

Keeping busy in the garden, walking is also good,he just does things to keep his mind occupied, along with medication. When he gets low I don't see him for weeks. He has a habit though, for years, takes up a hobby with vigour then loses interest quickly. For all his faults though, he's my brother and I am here for him 👍🏻 he's not been as bad this year because his son has moved back in .

To be honest , reading about it , it seems we could say a lot of people have this to a degree ?

I don't think so mate. I'm not sure you'll find a very well described example online, it's often very clinical which can't come close to expressing what lived experience is like. That was why I was keen to hear from people with personal experience. I know it's not at all what you were getting at but unless you've lived it, it might be the equivalent to thinking everyone gets a little sad when reading about depression.

I wasnt trying to minimise its impact on people but I was trying to illustrate that we all can have moods which change daily but I guess with the condition your describe its for longer periods of time. My poor friend used to be a nurse and his mental health deteriorated drastically after his wife died.  She was only in her 20s.  He hasnt really recovered. He has been sectioned a few times.

Yeah I'm not sure I ever would if I was in that situation.

Yesterday was a tough day Mum and Dad away I got so lonely I ended up drinking alot. I said to my Mum I'm not drinking anymore I'll stick to this drink makes me depressed. Some days I don't want to be here but it is for the people that care about me that I am to be honest

Yes drink is a depressive. Worse thing to turn to if feeling low. Good you recognise that.  Hopefully things improve for you.

Some people are far too quick with their mouth but the abuse Savage and Budge get on here from keyboard warriors is pathetic.

When someone resorts to personal insults, they lost their argument a long time ago.

I think if someone is exhibiting horrible views and opinions or even behaviours , be they racist , sectarian homophobic or Neo Nazi for example , then losing the rag and pointing out that they are behaving in such a manner is understandable and forgivable . But the personal abuse of Savage and Budge and lately Levein is way beyond the pale

Levein definatly. Worked hard for us since FOH took over. Didn't work out for him as manager it's a tough gig but it had some highlights and he brought through plenty of young players

So they think it's not schizophrenia but autism

Hopefully you will get an answer at some point Rudi.  That said there are very long waiting lists to get assessed for Neurodevelopmental disorders.

in other news the next 8 weeks or so is going to be a problem with the ADHD medication shortages.

Has anyone found Fluoxetine to become ineffective after time and if so found anything else that works? My doc usually just ups the dose but I don’t think it’s working for me anymore.

Did that happen?

I have had a hard time with the ADHD medication shortage.  I have been more tired than the usual over tired, probably from the effort taken to do anything like focus.

And the anxiety and Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria came back and hit me badly.  It is funny that the ADHD meds help so much compared to other medications.   I have some for the rest of the year at least.  And hopefully the situation is resolving.

@swanny Anti-depressants no longer working is a known thing.  It is called “Prozac Poop

Out” Happened to me - twice.

Hi Cavy,

Hadn't noticed your question until today, Swanny. I'll ask guys in The Changing Room group chat and let you know what they say. Pretty sure +90% have had experience of anti-depressants and debated pros v cons of them.
