If West Lothian/Livingston is an option then I would recommend in no particular order:

- Mid Calder

- East Calder

- Murieston

- Eliburn

- Livingston Village

- Deer Park

Bathgate can be alright, plenty of new build properties there. Armadale has nice houses towards their train station but I couldn't stay there.

I live in said houses near the station. I am an 8 minute walk to the station and 6 minutes to the pub/restaurant. I never go into Armadale itself except to the dr’s. Its not too bad and brilliant price wise compared to the calders.

Loads of new build flats in Musselburgh & Prestonpans (soon to be Wallyford too). Only 15 mins to Waverley on the train plus loads of bus options (26 etc).

Yeah like I said the houses there are lovely and there's a nice place for food down that way too I am sure?

I think Livingston and Bathgate are easier for newcomers though.

My unbiased choice for the man would be Mid Calder...?

I used to stay in Murieston so know Mid Calder well. Still regularly frequent the bull and the tap shop.

Most west Lothian  Towns have incomer problems.

Livi and Bathgate are too big for anybody too care.

Good luck in the surrounding villages though.

We welcome incomers in Blackburn, we see them as fresh meat!

In saying that I still get called an incomer by 30 year olds, not stayed here all my life, just 50 odd year
