***World Cup 2018 - Brazil v Costa Rica***

First of today's games.

Brazil failed to thrill in their first match and Neymar spent half of the game rolling around on the deck moaning at the ref instead of being one of the best players in the world. A point is about all they deserved.

Costa Rica didn't perform well against their opponents either and could have lost by more than the single goal they did lose by.

Expecting both teams to be better here.

Will never get used to watching Brazil when they are not wearing their iconic kit

Plays for a team called Kensitas?  Club side...

Played all of last season with just 20 players I heard.

Yeah, all quite old too.  A real senior service.

Neymar's had a haircut. Looks a wee bit less of a fannie.

Chance for Costa Rica.

Brazil turning up the gas. Everything going down the Costa Rica right flank.

Cruyff Turn

There's no really any contrasting styles these days, they all play like European sides. No flair about Brazil at all.

Exactly.

Where is all the outrageous skill and flair that Brazil used to be famous for?

HMFC THE TEAM FOR ME

Not a fan of the Brazil manager at all. Not much flair about Brazil whatsoever look very flat to many sidewards passing to Neymar going on. Fernandinho and Firmino should be starting hands down.

They are a bit rigid for a Brazil team. Ronaldinho was probably the last of them that just floated around making things happen.

It’s sad really. There was always a sense of excitement when Brazil were about to play. All the fun has been completely sucked out of football.

Agree mate, all the teams are just cancelling each other out.

Brazil of yesteryear would be about 3 up by now against the Costa Rica's of this world.

They've been this way since 2010 at least, if not further back. 2 defensive midfielders and less focus on 'flair'. Apparently every club team in Brazil plays a similar system. Not sure why they changed so much though.

This Brazil team is poor.

I remember watching the likes of Ronaldo, Adriano, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Juninho, Carlos, Cafu, Kaka, the list goes on.

Just not the same watching this lot.

They used to be 4-2-4 always, then it was 4-2-2-2 with a box midfield from about 94-98, full backs playing as wingers, 1 ball winner and a passer, 2 attacking midfielder floating around and 2 world-class strikers who were all ballers.

I think they won the WC in 2002 playing with Edmilson as a libero, in a 3-5-2 but they had Cafu, Bobby Carlos, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Kaka, Ronaldinho etc...

Now they all seem set in stone to this 4-3-3, which is fine, it's the total football formation but there's no fluidity, they seem to just stuck in position. It's a rather sad state of affairs.  I was expecting them to play like the Harlem globetrotters tbh.

Brazil could easily end up joining their neighbours at the airport if they don't win this.

Serbia is probably the last country I'd want to play in a scrappy last game.
