Hearts have two games this week.

Monday v Falkirk at the Falkirk Stadium with a 2pm k.o.

Wednesday v Kilmarnock at Ochilview with a 1pm k.o.

Hearts still have a chance of finishing 2nd if they can finish the season well with just three games to play.  They are 6 points behind Dundee with two games in hand.

0-0 half time. Hearts have missed a string of good chances. Henderson McDonald Cochrane Smith and Sandison have all had good sight of goal but passed up on the openings.

Wee question for the guys who go along on a regular basis. Do the younger teams play similar tactics to the first team?

They generally play with a bit more tempo although  the shape is similar.

If we win the last 2 games probably finish 2nd to Hibs. Remarkable, someone will see this as failure despite the youthfulness of the Under 20 team in many many matches.

Very well done lads, proud of you

Hearts pretty well dominated the game from the off and should have had the points sealed by half time, but by a reluctance to shoot or taking the wrong option they made it difficult for themselves and could easily have let Falkirk back into the game.

Hearts dominated midfield with some good possession play from Irving, McDonald and Cochrane.  Sandison and Smith also provided good width.

The game got a bit disjointed late on and Sandison appeared to take a sore one on the knee in the last minute and had to be helped off in some pain.

Dundee only drew 2-2 away to St Mirren today, so Hearts need a win and a draw from their last two games to secure second.  The final game is away to Celtic next Monday though.

Celtic lost 2-0 to Motherwell this afternoon and can only match Hearts current total of points.

I'd expect that Hearts loanees will all start on Wednesday, allowing Cochrane, McDonald and Henderson to join the first team squad for Friday.

Its good to see us at the right end of the table after a few years of sub-standard positional finishes. its so important, and perhaps not been drilled home enough in the last few seasons at this level, to install that winning at any cost mentality throughout all the youth teams and the development league squad ready for the first team, yes we're not going to win every game at first team or youth level but we want players that view winning at any cost totally imperative.

God, I hope he makes the first team

We could have competitions on here to find a word which rhymes with his surname.

Jay Sandison out for 3 months with a dislocated knee cap after Monday's game.

Sad for the lad, I hear hes been doing well. Hopefully back near the start of next campaign. If hes half as hard as his old man hell be fine. Good to see Currie and Keen up front. Has this happened much?

Sacre bleu!

Someone's having a good game.

6. Lovely through ball from Martin but Smith can't latch on to it inside the box. 0-0.

9. Ball inside from Logan finds Martin, and his spectacular bicycle kick is plucked from the air by Mackay on his line. Close! 0-0

Full time and another 3 points.

Hearts are nòw comfirmed as finishing at least third in the league.

A draw final game with Celtic is enough for second. Game is scheduled for Monday 1pm at Lennoxtown training centre.

I think considering how we have approached the league, this is a remarkable achievement.

Something good from the season regardless of the result on Monday

It was a funny sort of a game with neither side capable of imposing themselves on the other.  Hearts lacked the fluency that they had  on Monday.

Chances were at a premium throughout, but Mason did bring off a couple of excellent saves in the second half.

Hearts goals were both down to Currie's quick thinking, first catching a Killie defender dallying on the ball and was fouled as he nicked the ball away from him close to goal. It was a clear penalty and Morrison struck it firmly into the corner of the net.  His second came from a throw-in on the left with an excellent first touch that allowed him to spin away from his marker towards goal. When no-one moved to close him down he fired a low shot into the net from 20 yards with the keeper rooted to the spot.

There were a number of decent performances, although no individual stood out.

There was also a late debut for 14 year old Leon Watson who come on as a sub.

Martin did have a good game. First half at least. He was a bit quieter in the second half.

He got about the park, put in tackles and made some nice simple passes. Good effort on goal as well.

He also talked a lot to his team-mates and didn't try and act the big man as other senior pro's have done before.

Good goal from Currie, good to see him back playing and Morrison stuck his penalty away well.

Well done the U20's.  :thumb:

The U20s have fairly  turned round their season from an iffy start.  They have won 13 of their last 15 league games, losing only to Aberdeen and Hibs.  Had the Hibs score been reversed then Hearts would have won the league with a win in their last game.

Aberdeen had an experienced team on I seem to remember?
