Going to show the obvious here by declaring Hearts are far superior to Hibs from the seasons 1998,99 to 2012,13.

Hearts finish 3rd in the SPL  winning 229 games, drawing 139 and losing 198, with 826 points.

Hibs  finish 7th, winning 183 games, drawing 134 and losing 213 games.

No surprises there then.

we all know we are bigger better in every way, The massive problem today as it stands is we are not showing it. The present/Future is all that matters

...a bit disco

Hibs claim to being the 'Big Team' in Edinburgh evaporated the day the dispensed with the services of Grant Holt.

If they sign Kris Commons though...

Hopefully next season we are back at our best, remember they were playing very wee teams last season with the exceptions of Utd Falkirk and possibly

Morton, big wake up call for them.

No doubt the cup win has revitalised hibs as a football club but normal service will resume next season.

Agreed on that but they tore us apart aswell

They played us perfectley at Tynecastle came for a draw and got it then smashed us at ER they have the bit between their teeth and on a high we are still in turmoil. Yes the close season can give us hope with new players but if we dont get results on park we could fall further into turmoil.

we are looking at 5 away games to start season in league 1 will be at ER (hopefully only 4 as we have sense to postpone a game)

potential to draw them in Betfred cup

And that is why our recent record of one win in eight is unacceptable, and why I am astounded many on here think it is acceptable.

Hopefully we will correct this next season though, and it will be business as usual.

Why only start 20 years ago? We have a VASTLY superior record since day 1.  There was a thread on this years ago with stats backed up by the fantastic London Hearts.

For some reason i came across this one, and you are correct mate, our derby record far superior to them as well.

As our 16 majors to their 10 or is it 11 dont know.

Beating them twice in 2 big cup finals does it for me.

Since the 1988-89 season, hibs have only beaten us 6 times at Tynecastle. We have beat them 18 times down there by comparison.

We went an 11 game spell undefeated cumulating in the 5-1 game, winning 7 of the previous 8 derbies before the final.

And they bang on about their recent P7 W3 D4...

A couple of wins against them this season and the recent games will look like a tiny blemish on an otherwise dominant record.

Almost.... nothing will ever beat the 5-1 final.

the ultimate in a derby win, IMO.

Suppose winning the league title by beating them on the last day would come close.

Even after our horrific run in derbies from the late 60s to late 70s we were still something like 20 wins ahead.

It shows what a wonderful record in derbies we've had since 1983 when you look how far ahead we are now.

The vermin are well aware of the history and how much it must hurt them.

But at the moment, because of the here and now, they can gloat. We need to get back to dominating the "here and now" and add to a great history established in the fixture.
