I'm not sure any of those songs are applicable to War.

Eton Rifles is about marching past the snobs at Eton.

A bomb in Wardour street is about an IRA terrorist attack.

Going Underground I'm not sure what the connection would be.

War comes in many different form.

Them and us.

Rockets and guns ma man. :)

Didn't realise it had to be literal.

Video is from a TV series I was totally hooked by back in the 90s (Tour of Duty(?).

Paint it Black as the Theme song.

Well for starters Eton Rifles doesn't qualify no matter which way you look at it as its about the lower classes and a right to work march.

I'll see that and raise you this...

I almost posted that one too, Boris, but it isn't a song per se, it's a tune.

Very stirring number by a British composer.

I can't put a link from my phone, but I like Don McLean's The Grave. Well worth a listen.

Beautiful song. Masters of War by Mr Dylan pretty much nails it too

I only put it up because of Rifles, but keep blowing hard. Ffs.

Eton Rifles is a piss take, nothing else.

?It?s a piss-take on class. It?s an imaginary setting and that ? the two classes clash, like the trendy sort of revolutionary saying in the pub, ?Come on, sup up and collect your cigarettes cos there?s a row down the road?, and it?s like ?The revolution will start after I?ve finished my pint?. That?s how a lot of people feel. That?s how I feel. It?s a lazy attitude, but in another sense it?s a realistic one. There?s all this going on in the world and that, Cuba and that crap and nuclear threats and everything, but as long as I?ve enough for a pint I can tolerate all this.?

Yes, yes, yes.

Tucked away late at night after the Hitman and Her or some such shite.

Sgt Zeke- the battle hardened vet steering his rookies through their tour with a mixture of tough love and common sense. A father figure, a little bit distant as like Billy Brown he'd seen things and been places... took it hard when one of his boys got hit. Tried not to show it...

Good lookin flyboy chopper pilot who always seemed to be taking his aviators off or carrying out some insane medivac.

Simple farmer type boy. Struggled at first to adjust to army life, just wanted to go home to Mary Anne and raise kids and a crop. Now a hardened pro, The Sgts right hand man.

Token black guy unhappy at fighting the white mans war. Just looking forward to getting back to 'the world' and his brothers on the lower East side.

Token new character in every episode who only had a few weeks left to go who you knew would die before the titles rolled.

A slower and more sombre closing theme ala The Sweeney.

That has to be on YouChoob.

When it comes to writing anti-war song, two names from the 1960s stand out: Phil Ochs and Tom Paxton

Up first, "I Ain't Marching Any More" by Phil Ochs"

Second, "Lyndon Johnson Told The Nation" by Tom Paxton:

I gotta lust for glory and a tape machine.

I'm living out Frank
Coppola's dreams.

Outta my mind I'm feelin' mean.

I'm Nuremberg

Stepper blowin' wets away.

I gotta headful of Hendrix

They're always there high in the skies...
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Pretty as a picture in the generals' eyes
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare

They've done it once, they'll do it again
They'll shower us all in their deadly rain

Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare

Fishing children fish in the Imperial Waters
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Sons and lovers, lovers and daughters

Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Cherry Blossom hanging on the cherry blossom tree
Flash, blinding flash, then there's nothing to see

Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare

Dying they're still dying, one by one
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Darkness in the land of the rising sun

Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Lesson learnt the lesson? No, cos no one really cares
It's so easy to be silent just to cover up your fears

Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare

So they die in the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
And live with the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare

Will you stand by and let it happen again?
Nightmare death in the deadly rain
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare

Live with the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
And die in the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare

Nightmare comes in deadly rain
Nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, rain
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare

Manmade power, manmade pain, Nagasaki nightmare
Deadly rain, deadly rain, Nagasaki nightmare

They'll do it again, shower us in rain

Deadly, deadly, deadly rain

Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki Nightmare

Soldiers of Islem are loading their guns
They're getting ready

but the Russian tanks are mowing them down
They're getting ready

There's children in Africa with tommy guns
Getting ready

While the Islam armies are beckoning on
They're getting ready
There's a burning sun
And it sets in the western world

But it rises in the east
And pretty soon
It's gonna burn your temples down
While the heads of state are having their fun
Are they ready?
We're looking at the world through the barrel of a gun
Are we ready?

And you stand there beating on your little war drum
Are you ready?

And it won't be long before your time has come
Are you ready?
There's a burning sun
And it sets in the western world
But it rises in the east
And pretty soon
It's gonna burn your temples down
