I can't find the previous thread...

Starts tonight. Broadcasting at 2am so we're getting it at the same time as the US. Double episode followed by episodes 3 and 4.

Who's in?

Really looking forward to it. Just a shame Frank Silva who played bob is dead.

Think I should have re-watched the originals but maybe that's a good thing as a bit worried my memories of it will be tarnished by this new one.

Fingers crossed though.

Memories of it being one of the most over rated series ever ?

This and news of  a Mama Mia 2 movie mean it's good to see those involved in the entertainment industry still think people will watch anything produced or have not lost their sense of humour

Rewatched the original series recently, ahead of the new series. Can't believe I was allowed to watch that at 11 years old.

I had never seen it trying to go through it just now.4 episodes in the first was 2 hours long and I'm not getting the fuss to be honest and the acting is so wooden.

Not about Dolly Parton then?

John, that's awful, even for you. ;)

Anyway, after me posting about it I fell asleep! Hopefully sneak them in before work.

What a start. Brilliant mix of old characters and storylines and interesting new ones all linking together in epic lynch weirdness. No idea what's going on mind

It seems like Mark frost has a serious input in this series. Felt like I was watching the x-Files.

Just got round to watching the double episode. Think the only part I understood was the Chromatics singing at the end :D

Hopefully catch 3&4 tomorrow.

I never saw any of the original series, but tried watching the new episodes.

Totally and completely baffling.

Finally caught up with all 4 episodes. Ep. 3 especially was a huge WTF!!! :D

I am loving the closing bands/music so far. Was great to see Au Revoir Simone pop up in Ep. 4 (though I'd prefer them to release new music!).

What did Mark Frost have to do with the X Files?

That last episode was possibly the weirdest yet but **** I loved it. Thought it was just visually stunning.

So.....a nuclear test in 1945 broke the barriers between the white lodge and the real world, allowing Bob to escape.

The Giant and some woman then created Laura Palmer's soul and sent it to earth to counterbalance Bob.

This soul reached earth in 1956 as an egg which hatched a cockroach/frog hybrid thing.

Other agents of the Lodge arrived and put the local people to sleep via a radio message.

The cockroach/frog thing then crawled into the mouth of a sleeping girl (Laura's mum to be?).

Absolutely ******* bonkers but terrific at the same time.

Its, undoubtedly, one of the best cinematic pieces of TV I've ever seen. I was absolutely gripped from start to finish.

And, imo, he's not making it up. Lynch and Frost know exactly what they're doing. Exactly.

I agree, it's an absolutely stunning bit of television. Quite amazing.

In terms of the story line, I just can't help but wonder how different it could have been if Lynch hadn't caught a glimpse of Frank Silva in the mirror, when filming the early scene with Sarah Palmer back in the original series.

Since the "owls are not what they seem", could they be the woodsmen?

After the previous episode being one of the most stunning things I've ever seen, episode 9 was one of these utterly dull, filler-type episodes that seem to be rife in many of the best TV series, these days.

No way, man!

Tons of questions got answered this week.

The Major has been hibernating at the entrance to the White Room for 25 years, trying to get help for Cooper. He also let slip that there are two Coopers.

The White Room is revealed to be a different dimension.

He also knew what would happen in the future and left very clear instructions of how to get to the White Room. The Twin Peaks PD are on the case!

Dougie Jones had a terrible car accident 12 years ago with severe head trauma and has episodes of near catatonia, which is why nobody seems bothered at him being a vegetable now he's actually Cooper.

Evil Cooper is also revealed to be the man taking out hits on Dougie.

It's all coming together

Epic stuff in the latest episode. Loved the Tarantinoesque shootout and some classic lynch standout moments. Double episode next week...no idea how they'll tie it all up

Been watching this, and I've really been enjoying it, but I haven't seen the first 2 seasons (the original ones).

Please answer my one question:

What the actual **** is going on?

Stayed up to watch them last night and totally in two minds about it all. Might need another viewing. Some 90s style special effects worthy of the original series-plenty highs, plenty lows but mostly lots of wtfs. Series 4 please mr lynch

Outstanding stuff.

Lots of threads wrapped up at the end. (Evil Coop, BOB, Green rubber glove cockney bloke, Major Briggs, Diane, Andy&Lucy, Dougie clone going back to Jane-E and Sonny Jim)

Lots more still left hanging. (Laura, Audrey, Good Coop, Sarah)

Lynch is a teasing bassa.

I feel empty. This has consumed my life for the last month or two, even went back and watched the originals and the film. Where to now? :-(

Mixed feelings about The Return. On balance, I found it disappointing overall.

Some bits of amazing tv: the Gotta Light? episode probably best bit of tv I've ever seen, any scene with Sarah Palmer (really quite scary scene when Hawk visits her), the significance of the names of the people living in the house in final scene.

However, some crap bits in there and lots of filler: the floating Bob-ball being smashed by the Hulk-handed cockney was just (apparently) random nonsense, lots of (apparently) pointless characters, David Bowie being a ****ing kettle, and Mike's ****ing arm being a ****ing tree (with some sort of talking body part)?!? I mean what the actual ****!

Too much quirky weirdness, not enough sinister darkness.

Will still be watching season 4, of course.
