crunchy frog
I used to work beside a guy who maintained his wife never knew he took a drink, until one night he went home sober. That's pretty freaky. And quite sad. Had to think about that one.
JudyJudyJudy
Longest time ive been off drinking was about 4 months. I wanted to prove i could do it. I can up to 6/7 weeks without a drink and dont miss it all. I miss the banter of the pub but definitely dont miss the hangovers and the expense. I have been out with friends and not drank and thats just plain awful, the night drags and all around u people become more and more drunk and my tolerance level rapidly disintegrates. I have one friend who sadly is probably an alcoholic and the only thing he can suggest when they want to meet me is the boozer. Thats plain sad. Ive suggested to him many times going to the cinema , meal etc but its been a waste of time. Ive found weed is far more pleasurable, less expensive ( in moderation) and definitely more sociable. Bazzas right boot
I think about a week is my longest time. I had a stomach bug. I enjoy a scotch or a glass of wine or 2 most days. Regular drinker, but not heavy. I'm the opposite. Prob only drink 2 or 3 times a month, but when I do it's a scoop. New year's day, won't drink till my wife's 40th this Friday. Then Feb I have my niece's 18th, 2 rugby games and I think we're mid week V rangers. Oh dear. Nothing in between tho. Be good to go a few months sober. Generally only go 2/3 weeks since I was 17. Poor show.
Bazzas right boot
Haha, don't worry - i'm not some hermit without a life. What do I do socially? Take your pick from any of the following....... - karting - spend a lot of time helping my mate out at his garage - kayaking - I travel to car shows up and down the country during the summer months - snowboarding during the winter months (if we ever get some snow!) - play a bit of pool when I get the chance - try and do 2 track days a month at knockhill between March and about October All of the above appeal more to me than just going to the pub to get wasted, and I think probably having all of the above as alternative ways to spend money give me good reason to not bother going out and blowing ?100+ on a night out. You should try all that drunk, you'll have a blast! Nah, I joke, your right you shouldn't need drink.
