James Bond

I can't believe barbara brocoli is begging daniel craig to come back as james bond he lacks charm and humor and quite frankly i have found his bond films to be dark and depressing. I have always favoured people like pierce brosnan and my all time favourite bond roger moore now that guy is suave and sophisticated and the raising of the eyebrow he is james bond. I lastly say that james bond started as pure escapism exotic locations and red hot babes coming out of the ocean maybe I am thinking about the 70s but bond should have fun again.

I'm sure I heard yesterday on the radio that he's signed a massive contract to do a few more. He said he didn't want to do any more and now he is...greedy barsteward.

For me I completely disagree. But it's all about opinions

The Bourne films came along and blew bond out the water. Bond is now far better with a dark/grittier feel.

That said I wouldn't have brought Daniel Craig back. It needs to stay fresh.

Collectively I thought the pierce brosnan films were good.

I do think it maybe needs a more 'suave' actor to pull off the bond image. I don't want the light hearted/cheesy aspect of the 70s to return though

Craig films are closer to the books. Brosnan was becoming ridiculously camp in a post roger Moore worshipping Alan partridge world. I agree though, Craig has done his stint. I would go idris Elba. Actual mans man. None of the BBC prep school boys eg hiddlestone etc please. All those twats we are told are part of wonderful generation of talent have the presence of a beached jellyfish.

Bridge of Djoum

An old debate, but who would be your choice for the next Bond?

Jamie Bell.... Tin hat on :)

Gerard Butler has the Bond look, but cannot act the part.

Cumberbatch has the upper class-ness, but doesn't look tough enough.

Tin hat, Kevin Mckidd.

The last real Bond was probably Goldeneye.

The Craig ones have been more Bourne than Bond.

His films are okay, but not a patch on the old ones. I suppose times change.

Since Craig became bond I've gone right off the films. The last 2 I didn't even manage to watch them until the end. Pierce brosman was the beat bond imo

I think Daniel Craig has been the best Bond since Connery.

Delighted if he's making more.

I groaned when he was announced however I agree with your comments completely. He's been brilliant!

Can't remember the exact amount but think ?156M was mentioned for 3 films! That is ridiculous though.

Lazenby. Her majs secret service. Maybe cos is best story and has best overall bond package IMO. Kilt and frilled cravat is also a classic look.

?100m Daniels been offered to do one more.

Where was that confirmed?

I saw rumours on various sites that he'd been offered ?150m to make 3 x more.

Crazy money but I think he's superb.

Really hope it's true.

I love Daniel Craig as Bond, the best by far since Sean Connery imo, hope he does a few more.

:spoton:

In the 70s and 80s Bond was unique, and you looked forward to a new one every two years, the girls, gadgets, cars and one liners after a kill.

It's not unique anymore and there are so many action movies that it has just fizzled out as a franchise.

Regal Kingston

Daniel Craig has been great but they need to drop the 'Bond is finished' schtick if they are going to make any more.

My favourites are;

Sean Connery for Bond

Goldeneye for film

My favourite bond was naturally Sean Conner. However as soon as I saw the opening scene of Casino Royal. Daniel Craig nailed it. It was obvious he had read the books and got that Bond is charmless but a cold blooded killer. No qualms killing male or female. Craig is the best Bond with Sean relegated to second in my opinion.

Dalton is an underrated Bond (tin hat)
Brosnan was a good Bond, but films were utter guff post-Goldeneye (invisible car?! Come on)
Connery and Moore were very of their time and bang on as a result.
Craig has been excellent, again - of his time.
My vote for next Bond?  Fassbender.

No tin hat required!

Dalton was fantastic. Both his films were great.

The Living Daylights is one of my favourites. Probably makes my top 5.

I think the next bond should be tom hardy but it would be interesting if it was Jason Stratham because I liked the transporter and crank films.

I don't think they will pick a well known name as james bond when Daniel craig got named as james bond I didn't who he is. I like Daniel craig in layer cake that film is great and quite under rated.

Highlights opinions. I thought the films were great but I hated Dalton as Bond. Even his dimple on his chin annoyed me

I prefer roger moore as the best bond but I think the best bond movie has to be goldfinger.

2. The Man With The Golden Gun

3. Goldeneye

4. The Spy Who Loved Me

5. Diamonds Are Forever

Roger Moore was my least favourite. Sean was best. I also liked Dalton and Brosnan. Craig has been decent but the last few films have been a little boring. Lazenby, I thought was ok but only did one.

My choice for next Bond would be James McAvoy, Or possibly Andrew Lincoln?

I agree.  Craig moved the Bond films away from spoof and not-so-clever quips into action-packed thrillers.

Coincidentally, last night I watched an early Bond film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, with George Lazenby as Bond.  The film was awful, and so was Lazenby.

But on the bright side it did have Diana Rigg in it.

Nonsense. Best story, best score (by a country mile), best location, best Blofeld, best ending.

Did Diana Rigg not used to live in Bridge of Allan? Married to a Tory MP I think.

To each his own.

Let's just say that we disagree on what constitutes 'best'.

Tom Hiddleston as next Bond for me out of the list for next Bond that regulary comes up.

i agree, but he might be worried about being typecast taking on such an iconic role

for me dalton is the best bond and his films were great wasnt there some sort of disput as to why he didn't do more films, connery and moore were more cheesy for me but of their time. their films were good.

brosnan for me is the worst bond maybe it is due to the films, like invisible car (again)

I like the way Daniel Craig beats the shit out of people. A million times better than Roger Moore karate chopping baddies on the shoulder and then them passing out.

Craig Gordons Gloves

I'll be delighted if Craig stays on as Bond, his Bond films have been some of the best made since King Sean hung up the tuxedo. Ralph Fiennes and Ben Wishaw have also been good choices for their parts.  As for Moneypenny, she's great too.

If we were to move on, I'd be happy with Idris Elba or Tom Hardy as have been mentioned above.  I don't even know who Tom Hiddlestone is!  Didn't he play for Hull?

I love all the Bond films up to the point of Diamonds Are Forever, which was horseshit. One or two Moore films as well.

Bond films were tremendously stylish in the Connery (Lazenby) era. No Bond film has matched them since. No Bond can get near the same planet as Connery.

I heard it as part of the reason tom hiddleston wasn't the next bond.

I like DC he's very good, but he didn't have to make the testy smasher scene so real, nearly puked.

Hated Moore as Bond

As mentioned, his pathetic karate chop of "death" was embarrassing as hell.

Made the massive mistake of buying his box set over Connerys years ago, still regret it.

Connery the best closely followed by Craig.

If Craig stays on I'm delighted looking forward to more
